Ad Mundo Exteriore,

Okay, yesterday did not go off very well. I stayed at work for an extra two hours and the fifth sequence still did not finish. Yes, it was extremely long, but...ARGH! I can't believe it! Two hours for nothing. (Because, you see, if I stop in the middle of a search, I have to start all over again the next time I run the program.)

So my feelings are mixed today. On one hand, I may be able to get most of the sequences done, because I peeked, and except for two, they're all really, really short. On the other hand, the really, really short part means that I picked sequences that are only splices or fragments of the full sequence. Argh. I'm going to pretend I didn't notice that and cut them out of the final database later.

See, it all depends on how important the search results are as opposed to the profile. If the profile is more important, I'm so, so screwed because the profile is already corrupted by bad sequences. But the professor said that the goal was to find the sequences, so it shouldn't be too bad. Right? Right? ::looks for reassurance::

Yin-ki: No.
Tari: Shut up. Why on earth did I ever want a sibling? More to the point, why did I ever imagine up such a nasty parallel-universe-sibling like you?

Having fun reading Lorena Manuel's fanfics, at her archive, Furor Scribendi. She writes these lovely AU fanfics set in eighteenth-century England or New England Catholic schools. Very, very charming and elegantly written. Urgh. She really writes well--except for an occasional spelling mistake, once every thirteen parts--and she almost always finishes her stories. *_* And of course I'm biased, because I grew up on children's books set in eighteenth/nineteenth century Britain and dreamed about going to a boarding school. A few years ago, my friends would (and did) look at me in horror for saying that, but I think they'll be more disposed to agree with me now, since the Harry Potter phenomenon. Thank you Hogwarts.

Yeah, I know I'm idealizing the boarding school experience through the rosy lens of childish nostalgia, but I still think it'll be so cool to attend a school where you actually live in a building that's probably several centuries old and where you manage to play pranks in spite of the school authorities. And where you can stick frogs in your teachers' beds. ^_^

I love the old HPTF, but I can dream, can't I? Anyway, read Chiaroscuro, if you can manage to survive all 24 parts.

Tryo-chan, I want X. I'll return the CDs you've already lent to me, if you can lend me the rest. I think I'm going to be in Manhattan tomorrow, so if you can meet me at la Biblioteca (is that how you spell it? Spanish! Help!) Donnell sometime in the afternoon, I'll be very, very grateful. Of course, I'm going to call and ask, but just in case you read this first.

...Tari
