Durant Avenue, on the Feast of St. John Climacus

In an unproductive slump at the moment, so I decided to make a post pointing out that [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts' latest issue, Carnivale, is out.

[livejournal.com profile] worldserpent has a poll up about getting a Dreamwidth account, since Open Beta launches at the end of April. I think I've pretty much made up my mind to move there; hopefully I'll get an invite code and then upgrade to a paid account in November (which is when my last payment to LJ expires). The only question is what to do about my remaining LiveJournal. To import or not to import? To cross-post or not to cross-post? I think I probably will cross-post, since I don't think many on the friends list plan to move (feel free to tell me otherwise!), and perhaps that will negate the need to import previous entries. I do think that at some point I want to go back and lock down entries that are information-deficient (e.g. those early entries back in 2002 and 2003 when I had whole posts devoted just to online quiz results, for which most of the graphics don't even show up correctly anymore). However, I also said a few years ago that I would one day finish systematically tagging all my previous entries and haven't gotten around to that yet, so who knows if I'll ever face the daunting task of sifting through 1015 entries?

(Only 1015 entries over the course of 6.67 years? Well, I suppose I do tend to write long entries and almost never post more than once a day.)

I have a fun idea for [livejournal.com profile] blind_go, but I need to limit the premise so it will end up being self-contained and make some decisions about how many characters to include. Anyone willing to discuss it with me over email? Not asking for a beta but for someone willing to listen to me ramble and to tell me when something is boring. It will have to be over email since I can't really talk productively about writing over chat.

Have also been brainstorming in an attempt to write something for the next issue of [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts. Steve said I should write about technocrats of the future who build a New Jerusalem exactly according to specifications of the book of Revelations and have it descend to earth on a giant revolving platform--the story would be about the aftermath and how Things Go Wrong. Really, I just think it's a shame that Steve has no interest in writing fiction because he's obviously 1000x better suited to coming up with plot than I am. (I probably won't use his idea because it requires too much research, but I want to read this story. >_>)

Has anyone watched the Glass Mask J-drama? I watched the first series via streaming video last week and adored it. The links to the sequel are broken, alas.

Yours &c.

Post-script: Ah, I meant to add that my Yuletide Santa wrote a sequel to my Yuletide gift, In the God's Hands: Conquests New.

Durant Avenue on the Feast of St. Giles

Spent Labor Day weekend relaxing. Steve and I went on a picnic in the park--Vietnamese baguette with chèvre, avocado, and pears stewed in balsamic vinegar and caramel--and took a nap on the grass. We had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] jaebi_lit, who took us to a very nice Indonesian restaurant. We ordered a roti dessert with condensed milk, peanuts and cheese; it was rich and delicious. Cat also lent me Victory of Eagles so I can finally catch up on the Temeraire series. Hurrah!

Speaking of reading, some quotes from books I've been reading:

The Genius in the Design )

Atonement )

Travels With a Tangerine )

Jumping on the bandwagon to do the twenty-five first lines meme:

Twenty-five first lines )

The sample is skewed towards my shortest fiction, which admittedly is a little different from the way I write longer fics. Much to my surprise, I usually include an action in my starting line. I also often start with dialogue, but not nearly as often as I thought I did.

A lot of people in fandom think that I write "poetically" but I think you can tell from these first lines that I'm not actually poetic. My writing is heavily visual, but the sentence structure is quite prosaic for the most part, and I don't really use any unique turns of phrase. Metaphors are simple and utilitarian. I also seem to depend on phrase length to set the atmosphere.

Real life = very busy. If I were capable of shorter posts, I would have done a better job of updating, but unfortunately, I haven't found the time.

For the few of you in Hikaru no Go fandom who don't follow the [livejournal.com profile] blind_go community, [livejournal.com profile] silvermuse89 and I stepped down as moderators yesterday. [livejournal.com profile] chaineddove, [livejournal.com profile] doumeki and [livejournal.com profile] trixie_chick have kindly agreed to take over running the challenge, and judging by how enthusiastically they were brainstorming ideas for future rounds, I expect they'll do a wonderful job. Anyway, it probably comes as no surprise to anyone, given how infrequently I update these days.

This round of [livejournal.com profile] fifthmus fics have been generally quite good. My submission, Portraiture, was written for [livejournal.com profile] qem_chibati. Some comments )

More importantly, [livejournal.com profile] ontogenesis wrote The Journey for one of my [livejournal.com profile] fifthmus requests: Touya Kouyou journeys to a remote city in Yunnan and plays go there. Am completely thrilled that [livejournal.com profile] ontogenesis got assigned my requests, and even more thrilled by the fic she wrote. Go read it now! ^_^

Started watching Kure-nai on [livejournal.com profile] arboretum's recommendation. Murasaki is adorable and bossy! Episode 5 was a little bizarre though (the cast decides to put on a musical).

Finished Library War. Not sure what to think of it; the series turned out to be frothier than I expected. I did like the relationship between Doujou and Kasahara but the hospital scene was a little trite. >_> I would like to read fanfiction for the series though.

Yours &c.

Post-script: [livejournal.com profile] lacewood, I got your email; sorry for my lack of response and perpetual tardiness. I'll get my chapter to you soon! >_

1. Real life update )

2. Issue 3 of India and the Conundrum is up, featuring cover art for Via Misadventure drawn by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] milchstrasse. Note to self: finish writing chapter 6! And actually write chapter 7 too, while I'm at it. I have an idea for [livejournal.com profile] fifthmus but need to work out the premise some more in my head; I think the only way to really write an interesting story would be to push it in a possibly unpleasant direction, but: (1) am I willing and (2) how far should I go? Oh, maybe I should just give up and write a dialogue for one of the other prompts; it would be easier to write but a lot less interesting. (I would not tolerate this sort of defeatist thinking in any other endeavor, but somehow I allow myself to get lazy about fiction-writing. Yet another reason why I was not meant to be a fiction writer.)

3. Lucia di Lammmermoor )

4. Alphabet blogging: [livejournal.com profile] sub_divided asked about kendo. Kendo )

[livejournal.com profile] twelve asked about (song) lyrics. Lyrics )

[livejournal.com profile] schwimmerin asked about memories. Memories )

5. [livejournal.com profile] magicnoire posted a TV Tropes meme quite a while ago:

If you want to play, comment here, and I will assign you three random(-ish) tropes from the TV Tropes Wiki. Pick one, and either:

A) Write a story based on that trope -- any fandom or pairing you want, no minimum length, just have fun with it.

B) Write meta about that trope (in general or in a particular fandom).

Post your story or meta to your own journal, or wherever else you want. Comment here with a link to what you've written.

Durant Avenue, on the Feast of St. Albert Chmielowski

Given the choice between yet another navel-gazing post and the next letters in the alphabet blogging meme, which would you prefer? I ask it as a purely rhetorical question, since I'm not in the mood to lay my constant self-examining out in the open at the moment. (For once.)

[livejournal.com profile] twelve asked about dreams. Dreams )

[livejournal.com profile] pyrefly wanted my thoughts on Google: Google )

Had green tea frozen yogurt with mochi topping today. The tartness of the yogurt overpowered the green tea flavor, which makes me feel vaguely cheated since I paid extra for flavored yogurt. -_- It was still delicious though.

I also had my first pottery class yesterday. (Our lab tech does pottery as a hobby--she supplied the lab kitchen with most of its dishes--and convinced Christi and me to sign up for summer classes.) Pottery on a wheel takes more effort than I expected! The instructor warned us that our forearms would feel sore the next day, and indeed, my wrists and hands are rather stiff. But I rather enjoyed getting my hands in clay and spattering myself with slip. There's something quite satisfying about slowly molding the clay into different shapes. It's even satisfying when it collapses and becomes unusable. Actually, the whole process made me want to attempt learning vector-based 3D graphics again. Hahaha.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] athousandwinds, I started watching Murdoch Mysteries, a Canadian TV show about a police detective in Victorian Toronto. The main character is William Murdoch, a gifted amateur scientist who uses "modern" forensic techniques to solve murders. Also, Murdoch's ostensible love interest, Dr. Ogden, works at the city morgue and cheerfully hacks away at corpses to the accompaniment of the gramophone. So far, the show has featured Nikola Tesla (who obligingly designs a wireless microphone for recording conversations) and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This show makes me want to write steampunk! ^_^

I'm kind of stumped by my [livejournal.com profile] fifthmus prompts. The second one is the one I would be most likely to write based on my previous fics, but I don't actually have anything left to say about that particular character. And the first is a pairing that I can't visualize, period. -_- Would it be violating the terms of the request if I just focused on those two characters interacting? Oh, maybe I'll figure out how to write the second prompt. I have two Hikago fic ideas that I've been turning over in my head for a while, and while one of them can't be adapted to these prompts at all, maybe the other one can.

Speaking of which, I still haven't caught up on reading fics. -_- I also contemplated doing the Hikago meme, but at this point, there is nothing I can say that hasn't been said already either here or elsewhere.

Those of you who don't follow gadget blogs like Engadget and Gizmodo as compulsively as I do probably are not aware of the new market for cheap low-end ultraportables created in the aftermath of the Asus Eee PC debut. Originally intended to be an easy-to-use (hence the triple "E" in its name) laptop for children, it quickly became the must-have toy for gadget addicts. I'm too lazy to dig up all the relevant links to describe the trajectory of the Eee PC's somewhat unexpected popularity, so I'll leave it to you to read through the blogs if you're really interested.

Er, [livejournal.com profile] aishuu & [livejournal.com profile] mmmdraco, I didn't realize until this morning that your email specified midnight EST...a thousand apologies for being late. >_< My submission is awfully pretentious and probably made quite implausible by my lack of real research, but I had fun writing it. What's left on the table: finishing the sixth chapter of That Subway Story for India the Conundrum, the rest of "Real" for [livejournal.com profile] aiwritingfic, and the [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts story, for which I have about a dozen ideas, none of which are congealing into a plot. >_>

1. Listening to Julia Kent (two songs available for download at Aurgasm) makes me want to make an FST again. But for what?

2. Added the RSS feed of Peter Stothard, the editor of the Times Literary Supplement to Google Reader, where the latest post blogs about a book about blogs about books. In the resulting link-hopping, I found The Baker Street Blog, which lends new meaning to being a Sherlock Holmes fan. O_O

Also, podcasts for the TLS-hosted debate at the Cheltenham Literature festival on Greeks versus Romans. Haven't listened to them myself because I, uh, have no patience for podcasts (the reason why I never listen to podfics). I wish I could find a good transcription somewhere, but no such luck.

3. I hate revising application essays.

4. [livejournal.com profile] emblem started a support group for those of us foolhardy enough to be attending graduate school: [livejournal.com profile] postbachelors. If I'm not mistaken, membership in both communities is closed, so talk to the respective maintainer if you're interested in joining.

5. If you believe that all I do these days is go to lab, read books, read blogs about books (but thankfully not books about blogs) and watch dramas while procrastinating on my NSF application, you would be perfectly right. I did however spend Saturday at the De Young Museum with [livejournal.com profile] ladydaera, her boyfriend, and one of her classmates. The general conclusion from the outing: interpreting modern art is best done as a group effort. ^_^

[livejournal.com profile] tokyofish said I should probably post to reassure everyone that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Mostly I've been swallowed up by labwork, which is kind of all-consuming in a way that would make me happy if I weren't also obligated to also think about eating and sleeping. >_> This week was a little overwhelming because I was trying to recuperate from the retreats at Tahoe while also making up for all the time spent away from lab. I'm starting to feel rather possessive about my project: I know that I'll have to put it aside once this rotation ends, but I really want to see it through to the end.

In other news, the [livejournal.com profile] blind_go reveal is up, as most of you know. I wrote Real, also known as "that cyberpunk!AU" in my head. More rambling )

Thanks to everyone who read and commented on my fic! Yes, there is more to the story, and I'll write it as soon as I, uh, figure it out. >_> Which reminds me, [livejournal.com profile] aiwritingfic, you can request that I finish a work-in-progress of your choice. Let me know what you want.

As for fics I liked, of course [livejournal.com profile] corbeaun's A Season for Black Chrysanthemums blew me away (yakuza!AU always wins points with me), and I also loved the idea behind [livejournal.com profile] issen4's Mistaken, despite not realizing at all that it was her fic until the reveal was posted. Plus the vampire!AUs, the Star Wars fusion, the kaitou!AU, the Death Note crossovers, all the permutations of the band!AU, oh and how can I forget [livejournal.com profile] ladyseishou's "dark urban fairy tale" that won the theme challenge hands down. ^_^ All I can say is, never underestimate the inventiveness of this fandom (not to mention its capacity for crack).

Weekend at Tahoe )

Going on another retreat this weekend at the exact same place, but for a different division in the department. I should have paid more attention when I signed up for the retreats because if I'd known that they were going to be two weekends in a row, I would have skipped out on this upcoming one. Don't want to think about what havoc it will wreak on my experimental schedule. -_-

As most of you know, [livejournal.com profile] blind_go round 4 fics are up. I haven't read through all of them yet, but from what I've glimpsed of them while posting, there were a lot of really creative ideas in the mix. ^_^ I did notice though that a lot of the fics stopped abruptly or were incomplete--my own is one of them, as I'll freely admit--which makes me think that people really felt the deadline pressure this time. It makes me wonder if we ought to give more time for people to write, although if you think about it, the first and second rounds both only gave a month's time as well. Personally, I usually write down a few sentences then procrastinate until the very last week to finish off the fic (Reveille was mostly written in a night, even though it came out to 8000 words), so I've always thought that it was more a matter of inspiration rather than time. Maybe there's a problem with timing as well: August to September is the start of the school year, which is a busy time for most people. Then again...is there ever a good time for holding a challenge?

I'm really not happy with the fic I submitted because it's pretty much only the opening chapter of the story I wanted to tell, but I didn't have time to finish fleshing it out. >_> I kept wondering if I should have just refrained from submitting it, especially because I felt I hadn't really worked out all the details, but I also didn't want to default on my own challenge...Anyway, much to my relief, at least some people seem to like it, which makes me feel a little better about submitting it.

[livejournal.com profile] aishuu apparently has a bounty out for me, so technically I don't even need to bother offering drabbles to those who correctly guess my fic. But I will offer this much: be the first person to guess the fic I wrote correctly, and you may request for me to finish one of my works-in-progress.

My works-in-progress list )

Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday yesterday! <3 I was pleasantly surprised to get phone calls from [livejournal.com profile] angelyrique, [livejournal.com profile] tryogeru and [livejournal.com profile] ldmoonflower, not to mention e-cards from both my college roommates. I didn't really expect anyone I knew in Berkeley to take note of my birthday, but I did offhandedly mention it a week before to the lab tech, and not only did she remember the date, she actually organized a little party with cake and ice cream sandwiches. It was completely unexpected and so very nice; I think that small gesture alone made me feel that I'm not a tiny abandoned little plankton floating about unnoticed in a huge sea (forgive the florid metaphor) but that I was, bit by bit, putting down roots here at last (forgive the change in florid metaphor).

Actually, meeting up with LJ friends has made me feel much more at home as well. Real life update )

I have a couple of funny stories from lab and classes that I've been meaning to share, but I should probably go sleep now. ::yawns::

Stanley Hall, on the Feast of St. Joseph of Cupertino

I've come to the conclusion that it is probably impossible for me to finish both my submission for [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts (for which [livejournal.com profile] lacewood has already given me a deadline extension, which I've predictably also failed to meet) and [livejournal.com profile] blind_go.

I have more than half of the [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts story written, and since I think I know how to finish it, all I need to do is find a space of time where I'm going to be sitting at the computer for long enough to write the rest. On the other hand, I'd feel rather horrible if I don't submit for [livejournal.com profile] blind_go, and I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] aishuu will never forgive me if I wriggle out, since she's apparently organizing a "hunt" for this round. >_> Which one should I try to finish?! Gah.

I've noticed several people on my friends list posting about dropping out, and I'd just like to say that while I will probably make sad faces at you, I do understand completely if you find that you're unable to finish a fic for the deadline. I know that [livejournal.com profile] blind_go puts a lot of pressure on writers, but the last thing I want is for the challenge to stop being fun.

Belated happy birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] aishuu and [livejournal.com profile] moderntime! Sorry, I've been so out of it lately that I haven't kept track of birthdays at all. And now that I look at the birthday list again, a really belated happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] mmmdraco! (Sorry, sorry. >_<)

I managed to wake up at 7 this morning and not only ate breakfast but got to lab early. Apparently, the only motivation that will get me out of bed before 8:30 is needing to run an experiment. >_>

About my fic... )

Thank you to everyone who commented on and enjoyed the fic! I was surprised by how many comments I got, because I was sure people would find the story boring. (Heck, I found it boring upon rereading.) But I guess I had the advantage of being the second fic going by alphabetical order of ID. ^_^ By the way, the two readers who thought my fic was written by [livejournal.com profile] mousapelli or [livejournal.com profile] aishuu? Lowell House, on the Feast of Ste. Monica

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] daisy_chan! (Yay, I remembered!)

Counting down the minutes to the deadline. I'm glad my class at noon got moved to the Science Center computer lab. This way, I should be able to close the inbox almost exactly on schedule without having to be late.

A few belated notes:

1. India and the Conundrum, an online magazine for serial fiction run by [livejournal.com profile] team7, has been revived. Since I submitted the first chapter of a serial to its previous incarnation, Four Cats, I decided to buckle down and actually attempt to keep the story going this time around. You can read it here: Via Misadventure, or as I refer to it in my head, "that trapped-in-a-subway story". ([livejournal.com profile] milchstrasse is to do illustrations for future chapters as well. Yay! ^_^)

2. The [livejournal.com profile] remix_redux reveal was a while ago, and I discovered that the remix of my fic, Holding Hands (The Rock Paper Scissors Remix) was written by [livejournal.com profile] vissy. Go read it, if you haven't already; it's fantastic. I wrote Nice Day for a Race (Cyberian Hacker Remix), which was a cyberpunk version of Nice Day for a Race by [livejournal.com profile] jennabiding (a really neat Gundam Wing AU, taking the hikikomori idea from Welcome to the NHK!).

3. Next item on the agenda is to write the cyberpunk story for [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts. No, I haven't started yet. -_- This time, I'm going to actually try to finish it ahead of deadline so I can actually mull over it before I submit.

4. Why is it that all the major events in my life are converging around May 5th?

Lowell House on the Feast of St. Benjamin

Spring Break is nearly over. I have a complete draft that is going through its third round of revision. Today is going to be devoted to making figures and editing what I've written, but I've decided to relax my self-imposed restrictions tentatively for now.

A summary of my life this past week:

1. Last Friday, I met [livejournal.com profile] tsutanai in Boston, where she was attending a conference. She's even more witty and awesome in real life! Also, now I really want to find a translation of the Lotus Sutra. ^_^

2. So far, I've spent two nights in lab, which meant staggering back to my dorm at early hours of the morning to collapse into bed, sleep for three or four hours and then wake up to go back to lab again. Dining halls are closed for spring break, which means that despite my resolution to the contrary, I've often failed to eat regularly. There was a certain point earlier in the week where my food intake for the day was (as I described to [livejournal.com profile] angelyrique over email) "two clementines, one tootsie roll, three shrimp shumai, a half-cup of rice and some kimchi" because I hadn't left the lab all day and dug around in the refrigerator in the lab seminar room for leftover food. After that experience though, I got my act together and have been making sure to eat proper meals ever since.

In keeping with this general theme though, my room feels like a mess (there are a pile of clean socks still sitting on my bed since I did laundry on Tuesday), and I feel like a mess, thanks to not having gone to sleep at the same time any day this week. I'm starting to feel as if I've lost all circadian rhythm, or at least that my biological clock has gone haywire.

3. Speaking of which, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] angelyrique for putting up with my late-night, early-morning emails. The downward spiral into insanity )

4. Yesterday, I took a break and had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] tryogeru and Nan at Tamarind Bay. (I love that restaurant.) Afterwards, Tryogeru and I went to see 300 (at long last) and were vastly entertained. Our reaction )

Second issue of [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts is out! Some of the stories in this issue are pitch-perfect. *_* I especially love Flight of the Bumblebee (I would love to write dialogue like that!) and Elevator Music (which reads like a vivid dream). Also, The Bridge and the Abyss (set in Venice, need I say more?), The Name of the Rose (sends a soft chill down your back), and Love Like Ink (for people who fall in love with books). Oh, why am I even bothering to rec individual stories?--just go read the whole issue. ^_^

Notes on my submission )

Okay, I really need to eat lunch and start working on those figures.

I wrote most of these in a rush, so they still need editing, particularly the second half where I got kind of lazy and sloppy. (Concrit would be much appreciated!) Rereading what I wrote really brought home the point that [livejournal.com profile] aishuu emphasized in her meta essay on short fics: they have to be focused. The ones where I was just trying to write something that fit the theme are immediately recognizable for their, uh, total pointlessness. -_- There were also a few that probably should have been expanded into longer stories and developed more carefully, although I don't know if I'll ever get around to doing so. I think the most difficult fic to write was the one for Monster, because by that point, I was writing my third psychopath in the batch, and I found the whole experience really, really disturbing. I think the fic itself needs some more work, but I creeped myself out so much writing it that I didn't want to fiddle with it anymore. I also ended up writing for several new fandoms that I'm not altogether familiar with (that is, I've read the source material but not much fanfic), and I hope I didn't mangle them too badly.

Best part about writing for these themes: describing food. Worst part about writing for these themes: getting really hungry while having no way of actually eating the foods I described. ^_^

Lowell House on the Feast of St. Onesimus

I'm starting to wonder if I should just create a separate fic journal or put a disclaimer ("This output is by no means normal!") for the duration of all this posting for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days06. -_- The front page of the journal is starting to look frighteningly swamped. Maybe I should have backdated and changed the timestamp to last December.

Shoujo series tend to invite small, introspective snippets, but after writing too many of them in a row, I feel a bit paranoid that I'm either (1) mixing up the characters or (2) self-projecting. Also, writing about characters I either dislike or have a hard time understanding makes my mind feel weird and oddly out-of-shape. (Which makes you wonder why two out of the three Jojo drabbles I've written so far are about Dio.)

I was delighted to find that [livejournal.com profile] anenko, the recipient of my themes list, posted up her master list yesterday. She has several Perfect Girl Evolution (a.k.a. The Wallflower) drabbles as well as some for Heroes and Ugly Betty, all of which I very much recommend.

Anyway, I'm finally at the halfway point in posting. I wish I could say the same of my thesis. I will be productive today.

Lowell House, on the Feast of Ste. Brigid

Oh my gosh. Why didn't I realize the existence of the Naxos Music Library sooner? Ahhh! I could have gone there to preview full opera recordings instead of painstakingly listening to the 20-second previews on Amazon! It has at least five different versions of every major classical work I've ever liked! And let's not even speak of its extensive world/folk music section! It even has Korean traditional music. I finally got to hear 청성자진한잎 (daegeum solo piece) again! *_*

Ugh, I can't believe it took me until spring semester of senior year to realize we had this resource available. -_- I suppose that's what happens when you postpone taking a music class to your last semester. (But I was trying to save the best for last!)

In other news, the first issue of [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts is up, with the inaugural (and eponymous) theme of "Imaginary Beasts". (I haven't gotten around to reading all the stories yet, but the ones I have finished are quite fabulous. Go read right now!)

Infoblurb: [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts is an online original fiction 'zine (much like [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu) for genre writing. You should also sign up for the March issue, since the theme is "Love Story".

I didn't sign up to write for the first issue, so I promised myself to write for the second one. Of course, the only problem is, how does one write a love story? I always feel like a fraud whenever I write about a romantic relationship because I've never experienced one myself. (Usual train of thought when posting any sort of 'ship fic: "Agh, I hope the reader can't tell that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about!") Of course, I can always draw on fiction for inspiration, but...surely that's not the way it happens in real life? I see dozens of couples out on the street everyday, and I doubt they all met through the usual contrived situations that occur in shoujo manga and Korean dramas.

So, tell me: how did/do you fall in love? How did/does someone fall in love with you? How does the transition from being two separate individuals to having a relationship happen? (You can comment anonymously if you prefer.)

(Of course, I probably will end up writing an elaborately outrageous and cliché story à la K-drama, but I'm curious nonetheless.)

Yours &c.
