Ad Mundo Exteriore,

Look! My LJ is all green! ::grins:: I wish I could put graphics besides my userpic into the header, but apparently I can't do that with a free account. Ah well, no complaints in particular.

I've had some weird dreams lately. For example, last week, I dreamed that I was standing in the bathroom. Doing all the usual things that one does in the bathroom, not just excretion, of course, but also staring in the mirror, talking to myself, singing, banging my foot on the door, etc., but the weird part was the entire dream took place within that bathroom. Nothing else happened. Sheesh. It was a pretty long dream too. And then a few days ago, I dreamed I was a boy. O_O Heero Yuy, to be exact. Now, it's nothing new for me to imagine myself as a boy in a dream, but usually I'm half-in and half-out of the character. Like, part of me is watching the scene and the other part of me is playing the character. But what was weird was that this time I believed I was Heero and there wasn't any part of me outside observing the scene. Of course, I realized later my dream was not really...um...anatomically correct, but still...that was so bizarre. No, I'm not a transsexual. I'm perfectly comfortable with being a girl. I think I was reading too many GW fanfics. Urgh.

I've never dreamed about GW before, but I have repeatedly dreamed about Ender's Game. Being in Battle School, maneuvering in the battleroom...ehehe, who doesn't after reading the book for the who-knows-how-many-th time. I'm either a separate personality in Ender's mind or a completely different soldier altogether. Funny thing is, I don't dream the battleroom as I usually picture it when I read the books. I dream it as the graphic I made for Ender's Jeesh. Weird, neh? I mean, the walls really are black and covered with holographic images of stars and nebulae. And the handlebars are just as big and round and silver. O_O I don't understand why I didn't get a seizure in that dream.

Which reminds me, I've been trying to figure out an easy way of putting stars into the second version of the Ender's Jeesh wallpaper. I know how to draw boxes in perspective, thanks to eighth grade art class, but diagonal lines aren't done automatically in Photoshop. It's going to be a headache, to say the least. And thinking about parallel lines...oh boy, I'm in so much trouble. The stars that I'm talking about now, by the way, are the big brown cardboard boxes that end up floating in the battleroom to simulate planets and other obstacles in space. Not the stars that I already put on the battleroom walls.

I'm going through Ender's Game for the gigillionth (I made up a word!) time so I can write down all the possible slang words and slang grammar. It's mostly speaking in giria or pidgin English, apparently. I already have OSC's list of Battle School slang that he gave to The Philotic Web but he missed some words. OSC really needs to reread his own books. What's pretty cool is that he makes the fans do it instead. On the Hatrack forums he posted up an early version of Shadow Puppets and asked the fans if they could catch any inconsistencies. Pretty cool, neh? Unfortunately, I found out too late to get an inside peek at the book. I'll just have to content myself with the first three chapters, which are available at: The Hatrack River. Go look, if you're an Ender fan.

Urgh, urgh, urgh, why does BLAST take so long?! It's been over an hour, and it's still not done! I think I'm going to bring a Discman here so I can at least listen to something. Too bad the computer doesn't have a headphone jack. Lyd-chan, when you read this, can you post up a comment saying whether you can meet me this Friday at the 58th Street biblioteca? I don't know when else to give you your much, much, much belated birthday present.
