Ad Mundo Exteriore,

Gladiator is on television. Ooh, cool panorama of the Colosseum. I never saw the movie before, so I have no idea what the story's about, but it looks cool.

I've finished my math homework, before 9:30! ::dances:: Yay! Unfortunately, the clustering program did not finish so I'm faced with the problem of not having anything to write about for Intel. And the deadline is in 20 days! Argh.

::surreptitiously:: Psst, I re-borrowed the GEB and Hofstadter's newest book, Le ton beau de Marot. The latter promises to be just as cool as the former.

(Boy, Gladiator looks really cool. I loved Ben Hur, despite Charlton Heston, and this Roman Empire period is especially neat after reading I, Claudius.)

Le ton beau de Marot is all about languages and translation, which has become a particular obsession of mine after reading The Last Samurai. Which reminds me, I really want to try reading the Iliad in Greek over the summer. Anyone want to join the project? It's easier to do it with friends than alone.

Also tried reading some Agatha Christie, which has only made me want to reread Sherlock Holmes. I want Victorian crime! More specifically, I want Holmes commenting on tobacco ashes and footprints while he makes Lestrade feel small.

("Win the crowd, and you'll win your freedom," says the old gladiator person, whose name I don't know. And then Russell Crowe's character says something similarly dramatic in return. ::very amused:: Definitely like this movie.)

Okay, I should go and sleep now, since I'm utterly sleep-deprived and have a lot of homework for tomorrow. But, yay, no need to worry any more about early college applications! (I'm in denial about needing to apply regular decision and will be until late November.)

Hey, kaydee, d'you think you can use up one of your codes this month to create a Society community on LJ?
