I'm determined to never involve myself in a current events discussion at Harvard. You may or may not know that I've just joined a mailing list for the class of 2007, and it's insane! The conservatives and liberals have debated economics, the past presidential election, and now Israel. I'm starting to skim over the posts, even though they're excellently written, because the next time I see someone cite their source by volume and issue number of The Atlantic or The Economist, I'll probably crawl into my hole and never come out again.
The typos and 'Net speak are making me feel better nevertheless.
I just got the big fat Unofficial Guide today, and my mother's taken it hostage. She's told me to join the flute ensemble, the Korean-American association, the chemistry club and the model UN so far. >_> Considering I'm already worrying about how to handle the extracurriculars that I'm already interested in...and the ridiculous thing is that I'm not even at college yet! No, not even packed for college yet! Why can't we take things one step at a time?
On a better note, my freshman trip is going to be the tour of "Bookstores in Cambridge and Boston", led by an "antiquarian enthusiast". I just know half my allowance is going to be spent on weird used books, possibly in foreign languages I can't read. I also found that there are two potential anime stores in Harvard Square, so my hard-earned summer money is doomed. Unless, of course, I become a hermit, which is actually a viable possibility.
Today, I went to visit oniichan, who gave me an early birthday present! ^_^ I got First Meetings, the collection of Orson Scott Card short stories on the Ender series. It's not as bad as I expected, though unfortunately, Card is losing his subtle touch. "Investment Counselor" wasn't so bad, I guess. I also got a "girly" purple butterfly cell phone ornament. >_> Don't ask. ::goes off to rent microfridge::
