Ad Amici,
(That's supposed to mean, "To Friends", as opposed to "To the Outside World".)
I love you all. I say that without any hint of sarcasm, as difficult as that may be to imagine. I didn't expect my eighteenth birthday to be particularly memorable, but as you can see, it has definitely reduced my cynical barriers to a pile of happy goo. ^_^
First of all,
bottledgray,
tryogeru and
ldmoonflower all called today to wish me a happy birthday. Plus,
phoebs edit: and
tamarisauce left birthday greetings on their LJs. Then, my proctor and entryway threw a surprise party for me in the common room, complete with cake, ice cream, candy and balloons. I haven't had a birthday party in ages. People from the rest of the dorm stopped by, even people whom I've never seen before, and wished me a happy birthday. And if that weren't enough to spoil me completely, my roommate gave me balloons (which are floating around on my ceiling) and presents! Isn't that so nice of her? Thanks again,
blenrock! I feel so loved.
So yes, I can honestly say that I love all of you right now, with a perfectly straight face. At this instant, I do believe in fluffy pink bunny rabbits (^_~ to
ldmoonflower) and happily ever afters. L.P. was disgusted at my corniness, but hey, I feel sappy, and what better way to express your inner sappiness than a nice dose of clichés? I don't think I've ever had a better birthday. ^_^ It's good to be eighteen.
