Ad Mundo Exteriore,

I just ate dinner with someone who qualified for the International Math Olympiad. O_O Not that he actually told me that, but he did mention he was taking 55a (the hardest math course here), and since I'm under the impression that the people who are still in that class right now are incredible, I assumed that he must have made some sort of splash in the math world. So out of curiosity, I looked up the USAMO site and cross-referenced it with the Freshman Register. >_< I did know that there were IMO people here, but I've never actually, uh, "sat in the presence" of one before. This is kind of shocking for me.

Hey, don't look at me like that. If you've been one of those active members of math team who struggled for the last few spots on the NYSML and ARML teams, you would understand how I felt. >_< You're in the unique position of knowing exactly what it takes to get to the IMO level while also realizing how impossibly far away it is for you. That is, you're without any of the cushioning effects of ignorance. I mean, these are the people that the math team boys discuss for hours on end when they're supposed to be "socializing".

In other news, I watched Wonderful Days yesterday, which is an absolutely stunning movie. You should download it off of BitTorrent now. I plan to make a skin for it, of course. ^_^ It's a pretty sad plot, a cross between the Matrix, Metropolis and maybe Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, but who cares about that when you've got stunning visuals? And well, the storyline isn't unbearable, unlike Final Fantasy, just overdone and unoriginal. The characters aren't exasperating either.

Oh look, a Spiral quiz:

The results bode well since I plan to start using Ayumu avatars as soon as I open up Photoshop again.

The pace of assignments is letting up. Or so I think. We'll have to see.
