Daily update
May. 22nd, 2004 07:00 pmAd Mundo Exteriore,
I've been skinning for nearly five hours straight. Ah, that was relaxing. But now I have to figure out storage and scholarship business. Not fun...
Last night, my blockmates and I went to see Van Helsing in a dinky little theater in Alewife. It was extremely funny--definitely a lighthearted poke at the vampire genre clichés--and we laughed all the way through, although it felt kind of strange because at times it seemed that we were the only ones amused. In any case, we finally got to enjoy ourselves and relax a little--you know, hanging out casually for the first time since starting college. >_< Yes, my blocking group consists of three biochemistry, one chemistry, one biology and one engineering concentrators. We are all going to be so insane.
Then we went back to Jenny and Jenny's room (yes, two of my blockmates are named Jenny, one of them being the Jenny from kendo and the other being her roommate), ordered pizza, and watched Bend It Like Beckham. Which was a great movie. ::pleased grin:: Jenny (not from kendo) and I swooned over Jonathan Rhys Meyers--isn't it cool that one of my blockmates has actually watched Velvet Goldmine?--and I think we all agreed that the music was excellent. I think it helps that we were all Asian except for Jenny (the one who's watched Velvet Goldmine)--and she's pretty much an adopted Asian anyway--and related to the whole immigrant parent-child dynamic. ^_^
Oh yeah, I also got to see the trailer for Hero, the Zhang Yimou movie I raved about a few weeks ago. Apparently, Quentin Tarantino is releasing it here in the United States (they better not dub it), and I'm definitely going to go see it again. That's one of those rare movies that I can probably see over and over again without feeling exasperated.
Anyway, the Winamp skin is looking good, or at least so I delude myself, and all I have left are the minibrowser, video and library windows. I think I have the library figured out in my head, so hopefully it won't be too hard to finish off, and the minibrowser/video windows are pretty simple once you've done the playlist.
I really liked this skin before--which is unusual for me since I get really sick of the skin by this point--but I think the playlist finally broke me. Ugh. Hopefully I'll get it finished tomorrow and out of my mind for good. (The bubbles just ended up too large after all. I should have stuck to 15x15 circles. But I'm too lazy to redo everything. >_<)
