Lowell House, on the Feast of St. Jude

I remember seeing this meme around before, but I never realized how cool it was:

The Potion Maker
tarigwaemirium is an opaque, swirling opalescent liquid culled from the bile of a wolverine.
Mix with tarigwaemir! Username:
Yet another fun meme brought to you by rfreebern

I've been typing LJ usernames in and seeing what happens when the potions get mixed. For example, tryogerullium mixed with tarigwaemirium produces a potion that "gives the user the power of amazing hearing". Or tarigwaemirium with aetherangeletterium provides "protection from fire". Also, I'm rather pleased to be opalescent and culled from the bile of a wolverine. Even though I think wolverines are kind of stupid-looking (no offense to Logan, of course), it still sounds kind of cool.

For the first time in weeks, I've had very little work to do. It's rather boggling. O_O Well, not much immediately necessary work, that is. I probably should be catching up on all the reading I'm behind on, but instead I've been relaxing and downloading volumes of Shaman King from Manga-Rain. >_> Also, this morning, I sat in Cabot and instead of getting my Korean exercises done (the only homework that's been due all this week), I found about ten books on the shelves I wanted to read. Cabot apparently does have fiction--it's just fiction about science, which makes it even more interesting. (Well, to me at least.) After flipping through several of them with a mad gleeful smile on my face, I ended up reading a fictional account of Johannes Kepler's life (based on biographical facts, but novelised to be more than a simple dry recitation). It's oh-so-imaginatively titled Kepler. Actually, the book was really good, and I was so tempted to check it out, but I think my weekend will be better spent holed up in the library (outside of kendo and the Saturday movie night, which I'm rather looking forward to) than getting distracted by novels. Even if they're about scientists going insane from sickness and persecution complexes. ^_^ The novel version of Kepler sounds so neurotic that I can't help identifying with his weaknesses. (He is obsessed with making ordered systems in order to compensate for his disordered life; despite the whole empirical imperative, I think that is the secret motivation of all scientists.)

All right, I should probably turn off my computer now, and finish up the Chinese character exercises so I can go to sleep.

Yours &c.

Post-script: Thank you to everyone who answered my question in the last post! It may take courage to ask people what they think of you, but it takes even more courage to reply honestly. ^_^ Oh, and the KA meeting was...awkward as usual. I was mildly freaked out to realize that apparently some people know who I am even though I have no recollection of ever introducing myself to them. And I thought I was pretty good with faces. Oh, and apparently I look like an international student. I decided to take it as a compliment, but it sounds suspiciously close to being called a FOB. Which is actually, come to think of it, really hilarious.

Instantaneous healing is pretty useful. ^_^ I'm sure Snape would approve. XD
