I'm supposed to be thinking of a thesis on Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse, but I'm sick with a stuffy nose, so I'm sitting here doing nothing instead.

Today I saw a woman on the subway with thumbnails that were at least three inches long and painted a peach-gold color. How on earth does she avoid poking her eyes out? In fact, how on earth does she write? The nails were curved in a 60-degree sector of a circle of about radius 5 cm.

I'm on my father's computer, and I notice that he's been playing Solitaire a lot. (Instead of selling insurance, like he's supposed to be.)
