Kendo news

We had our ranking exam in kendo yesterday, and yay, we all passed! Although I have to admit, the state of my kirikaeshi was pathetic, and I went off-center in kote. >_< I also had problems with footwork and synchronizing stomp with swing, but hey, what else is new? I've decided that I'm going to set myself a goal for this year: to work on my fumikomi until it's decent. ^_^ Also, our two nights of practicing kata paid off--our sense of distance was so much better than in our practice sessions that I was kind of surprised. Well, I accidentally hit Jenny on the head during the first kata, but I think that was more due to my nervousness than anything else. It was strange how nervous I was. I knew that we weren't supposed to get particularly worried about the shinsa because the HRKC doesn't care all that much about distinguishing between formal kyu ranks, and the shinsa was supposed to be more of a progress report than anything else. But oh dear, having five alumni study your form intently for any mistakes was a pretty nervewracking situation. I tried my best to relax and concentrate because really, being nervous in kendo is akin to losing, but I had these resurgent bouts of nervousness whenever it was my turn to go.
Also, didn't help that I had a sore shin and tailbone. I, being my wonderfully clumsy self, fell down the stairs on Thursday and ended up landing rather stupidly on my boot heel, and the next morning I woke up sore. The soreness seemed to have gone away by Friday evening, but the pain returned after I moved around in kendo. I'm even worse this morning, and I slathered some IcyHot on it in hopes of numbing the pain, but who knows what will happen? Of course, since Ken is here, we will all probably suffer from several rounds of kakari-geiko and jigeiko, so perhaps the pain from every other point in my body will drown out the soreness. Ugh, I really hope the tailbone isn't broken. >_<
I have pictures of the kendobu, and Jenny and me in our uniforms. Anyone want to see? Will make a friends-locked post with the pictures later, if there's any interest. Now I should really start putting on my contacts and get changed. >_<
Yours &c.

Pictures? Yes? ::expresses interest!::
