Lowell House, on the Feast of Ste. Catherine de Ricci

Just wanted to note, before I cut myself off from the Internet for the rest of the day, that I should really come up with a better system of keeping track of fics other than constantly emailing myself lists of links with blank subject lines. It took me forever to write up the [livejournal.com profile] dragondormant update...maybe the solution is to update more frequently? ^_^

The [livejournal.com profile] subrosa_tennis authors haven't been revealed yet, and I have to admit that I've been dying of curiosity. I tried to guess but couldn't come to any conclusions because I realized that having read a few fics by a certain author is not equivalent to being familiar with an author's style, and although I thought about detective work (i.e. studying pairing and romanization preferences, noting choices of tense and person, looking at dialogue to narration ratio, etc.) I, alas, have not attained that level of weirdness yet. Although really, the attempt to catalog a writer's style in concrete, even quantifiable, factors is oddly appealing, in that hen's teeth or blue rose petals kind of way.

Last night I went to the Chinese New Year festival, which had great food, although the performances were sometimes disappointing. (Sadly enough, I think the ACS show at HPTF was more interesting.) With the exception of the Chinese Yo-Yo Club's performance, which blew my mind away. Many people were dressed formally though, which felt slightly disconcerting because Daera and I just showed up in normal clothes. But hey, at least we didn't freeze as we walked home. It was quite an adventure though. I'm vaguely regretting it though because the time we spent waiting for seating and food would have been better spent doing work. I'm terribly behind now. >_< (But of course, I don't regret my three-hour conversation later with Daera because that was really wonderful. ^_^ Everyone says that the conversations in college are what you remember in the end, and I think it really rings true for me this year.)

Yours &c.
