Lowell House, on the Feast of St. John Joseph of the Cross

For someone who has two midterms coming up very, very soon, my behavior is far too complacent. ::sighs:: Still, I think I ought to get a good night's sleep tonight and stay up late tomorrow instead. Various notes:

1. I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] tokyofish tomorrow for dim sum! Or so the plan goes, at the moment. Am looking forward both to the meeting and to the food.

2. My neck really hurts from all that tsuki practice yesterday. I was fine this morning, but after my post-practice afternoon nap, I woke up feeling as if someone had just tried to strangle me in my sleep. >_< There were a couple of times when a freshmen would keep missing and I would let my guard down, only to get slammed on the fifth time. >_> Moral of the story: always be careful about receiving tsuki.

3. I finished Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club. The ending felt rather weak, and I have to say I definitely enjoyed the first two books more. Still enchanted with Peter Wimsey though. ^_^ Out of all the literary detectives of my acquaintance, he is probably the most human.

4. The latest library book flipping its way across my room from bag to desk to bed to floor is Mathematics with Love, a compilation of love letters written in the form of mathematics lessons. I am very much enjoying the introduction to calculus--for example, the derivative as the instantaneous rate of change introduced in terms of Jack and the Beanstalk. I suppose one has to pity the poor girl being wooed in terms of limits and variables, but I think I would find it charming to receive a love letter that passionately discourses about biological systems. But then I'm a nerd.

5. So when did thefacebook go international? I was wasting time, changing my user photo, and discovered that Oxford is on the list of schools. Oxford.

6. [livejournal.com profile] ladydaera posts this meme, which I've seen on other journals, but haven't bothered to put up myself until now:

If you read this, you must post a memory of me. It can be anything you want. It can be good or bad. Just so long as it happened.

Then post this in your journal. See what people remember about you.

All right, I am going to go on hiatus from LJ until my next two midterms are over. No comments, no downloading, and hopefully, no browsing my friends list. (The one exception being when I post up the next [livejournal.com profile] chain_of_fics drabble, which I'll probably end up writing while in a gloomy mood tomorrow evening.)

Yours &c.

Ooh, I want dim sum! ;_;

Hm..My memory is really bad, but the first memory that popped up as I read the meme thing, is when we had to do that thing for the drama class. With Mr. Haag (something like that). I remember we had him act, but made him a really small role. I still have the script somewhere. ^^;;

O.o

Heh, I remember that. Yes it was Mr. Haag, and I have the script too. XD We were giving a presentation on Molièere, and we arranged it like an audition. ^_^

I was rewatching FMA eps on the plane home yesterday, and it turns out that Tucker is an expert in bioalchemy. Ew. . .I meant bio-alchemist in the most literal sense of bios = life = plants and green growing things = associated with the Tringhams, not Tucker's creepy chimera experiments.

Memory: your kind RFL post!

Oh, no worries, I didn't even think of Tucker when I saw the icon, and I still think of "bio-alchemist" in the same sense that you intended it. ^_^ I really do like the icon...and oh, your latest batch of FMA icons are tempting me as well. Shall grab and comment once I make up my mind which ones to take. ^_^;;

not really an actual memory, but i think the whole slew of emails we threw back and forth over the summer as we were slaving away at our respective labs. not that we actually wrote THAT much, quantity-wise, but it definitely made an impact. ^_^

oh! and i remember - part of it was the astonishing realization that i actually had a friend from college to correspond to, and part of it was your writing style. i kept enthusing about it to my friends back home, about how you were the best writer i'd met yet. your correspondance is a pleasure to read in a purely literary sense. *grin*

::blushes:: Thanks...that's such a nice boost to my confidence. XD I really liked the email exchange as well--I felt like it really gave us a chance to "talk" so to speak, just the two of us. We should do it again this summer! (Even while staying in the same apt. and working in labs that are just two buildings apart. ^____^)

I think I'm going to have to start reading the books you read. =)

Memory:
The first time I met you - i.e. HUNS. Coincidentally, HUNS starts this Wednesday and continues through the snow and muck... just like it did two years ago. I remember following you from the Luxembourg briefing to lunch in the snow and sitting in our hotel room not... doing anything but eating.

That was before I discovered how cool you are. =)

p.s. Shashi told me to sing you a song concerning a certain Magic Dragon name Puff...

O_O Agh, that SONG! (Wow, I'm amazed Shashi remembers; I didn't even talk with him all that much in high school. On the other hand, it figures that he would remember that if nothing else.)

And yes, HUNS was definitely more fun with you guys around. I guess we were still pretty distant at that point (I'm never all that comfortable around people I don't know well) but I had been rather unhappy with my rooming experience the two years before, and I definitely felt happier with you guys. ^_^ Oh, and good luck at NHSMUN! XD
