Lowell House, on the Feast of St. Vincent Ferrier

Just writing to say that ten minutes ago, a cockroach that has been running in and out of my room all night crawled up on top of my bed, while I was sitting on it, and flailed about on my pillow as I leaped halfway across the room. I then proceeded to frantically chase it, flushing it out of dark places with a flashlight in one hand and a boot in the other, with my roommate providing moral support in the background. I am happy to say that I successfully smashed the creature a foot away from my bed. Its corpse has been flushed down the toilet.

I'm not normally squeamish about bugs but this roach was at least an inch and a half long, and it was on my bed. I did my best not to panic (I didn't screech in any case), but never have I felt more like a girl. >_<

We're investing in roach spray tomorrow. At least it didn't eat my food.

Yours &c.

Try getting those sticky traps or the bait traps, if you have food around. Those seem to work.

Wow, I don't think our cockroaches have ever left the bathroom...but at least you were victorious. Speak of the devil, I was just telling my buds at German table yesterday about the cockroaches in Lowell. :-S

Reminds me of the silverfish I used to see on my bed.

Oh, but speaking of roaches, I saw the creepiest looking one in the library the other day. It was over an inch long, and had really really long legs. Seriously long. You know how normal roaches scuttle about, with their legs out and body low? This giant thing walked around like a roach on stilts. Like a roach!Oliphant. CREEEEPTASTIC.

Oh ew gross. I commend you for your braveness--I would've screamed like a silly little girl then run around and never gone into the room again.
