1. Saw March of the Penguins with roommate. Baby penguins are adorable! ::sprinkles millions of ASCII hearts:: Also, I've decided that I want a husband with a penguin personality: male emperor penguins starve for more than three months keeping the egg warm throughout the winter while their wives go off to feed after the ordeal of producing the egg. What devotion!

2. I've suddenly remembered the real reason why I want to be Peter Wimsey. (I've just finished Strong Poison, by the way.) Not because he is witty, has an excellent memory for quotes, loves collecting books, possesses riches and fame and a title to boot...no, those reasons pale in the face of his true asset: Bunter! I want to be Lord Peter Wimsey so I can have someone like Bunter around all the time. After all, he does everything excellently whether it be cooking, photography or crossword puzzles. Moreover, he has a fashion sense! I would never need to shop for clothes again! Which brings me to the next point...

3. Among many of the items that I politely agreed to have purchased for me as gifts from my generous and loving family (that is not meant to be sarcastic, no matter how it may sound), my uncle's wife gave me two blouses and...a pink-striped push-up bra with matching underwear. (Made of a rayon-polyester blend no less.) I fear that I will never bring myself to wear the latter, but I put on one of the blouses today and was once again amazed by the fact that it fits. By "fits" I mean that it does not expect me to have a figure, so that it actually more or less reflects my actual body shape. O_O No wonder some people buy all their clothes in Korea; not only is it cheaper but it also doesn't make you feel like you're wearing someone else's hand-me-downs. I might even enjoy shopping if that were the case. ::gasps dramatically:: But then again, the selection of clothes isn't all that different even if the cut is. The whole reason for this long-standing quarrel between shopping and me is that what I really want to wear are billowing robes and velvet-lined capes. ^_^

4. Halfway through Issola. The Jenoine are kind of uninteresting, which is why it's hard to keep my attention on the plot. ::sighs:: Anyway, now that I have a sense of what most of the Houses are like, I have concluded that I am probably by nature an Athyra but my parents tried to bring me up like a Lyorn. I am not cool enough to be a Dragon, alas.

5. Oh yes, I forgot to say: the last paragraph of Norwegian Wood! Totally redeems the white flagpole quote a thousand, no, a million times over! ::is in awe::

Yours &c.

Post-script: Whoa, I completely forgot that my original intention was to post the [livejournal.com profile] 30_kisses themes I wrote today. Hm, maybe I ought to save posting until I finish them off; I want to post in one big batch. But you aren't missing much; they are only notable in that they are my first successful attempts at fluff.

Yeah, the Jenoine are kind of boring, mostly because even if they are supposed to be more developed than Dragaerans and humans, they seem like animals, almost.

Yes, it's really impossible to get a good grip on even what they look like. >_> Vlad's descriptions are unusually unclear; I just imagine these huge golem-like creatures.

I sort of see them as stumpy grey things with small heads. Possibly with their brains in their torsos.

aw... it's too bad issola isn't interesting. i have to say, all the things i liked about that book had to do with morrolan and aliera. well, and teldra too. *grin* i like your evaluation of what house you'd be. how would you describe me?

It's not so much that it isn't interesting as the main plot doesn't draw me in. I do like Morrolan and Aliera snarking at each other, and that comment Vlad makes is hilarious. XD I think you have Athyra-ish tendencies too, but I think you're also a bit like a Tiassa at times (or at least you remind me of Khaavren with his ambition and determination). We're probably both too self-restrained to be Dragons though. ^_^

yes! the snarking is precious. i love morrolan and aliera together ^_^
ooh, a tiassa? *grin* i'm flattered by the comparison. so true on the dragonlords part, though. we're simply not... dragon enough. heh.
this reminds me, where are you in the khaavren romances?

Just need to read Sethra Lavode. XD

Oh and I want to write something for the first theme in [livejournal.com profile] 31_days ("Be indomitable, o my heart"). Do you have any suggestions/requests for series? I'm kind of desperate here. >_>;; (Books, fairy tales and mythologies allowed.)

Hahahahaha...

Oh dear, at this rate, I really am going to give into my friend's suggestion and write Hana Yori Dango which will be too terrible for words. >_<;; Gah!

It means "Boys over Flowers" if I remember correctly, and it's a 25+-volume manga series, which I would roughly sum up as "rich guy falls in love with poor girl" except that wouldn't adequately describe the truly, truly weird twists the plot takes.

One day, I may be able to write proper Hana Yori Dango fic; if I write it now, it will invariably be...painful.

The popular Taiwanese live-action drama "Meteor Garden" was based on this series, by the way.

meteor garden! *groan* i remember when my high school friends were obsessed with it. i caught one episode on TV from somewhere in the middle and it made no sense whatsoever. but how does this relate to the theme?

Well, the theme could probably apply to Tsukushi? At least the manga version; I only watched one episode of Meteor Garden so I don't really know if it makes sense for it.

Of course I'll go shopping with you. As long as you don't force me to buy any clothes.
