DeWolfe Apts., on the Feast of St. Bernardino Realino

Pretty much finished packing at last. >_< No, I don't actually have all that much stuff; I'm just slow. I feel sorry for my roommate, but she seems to be sleeping fine despite the light and the noise.

My garrulous mood hasn't passed, which is probably why I'm typing this LJ entry in the first place. Have been listening to FSTs on iPod as background music for packing. [livejournal.com profile] petronia's Heist FST really does remind me of a heist, or at least car chases down glistening black city streets and sultry long-legged women in mysterious hats and professional burglars dressed like ninjas slipping acrobatically through elaborate laser mazes and, of course, a languid foxtrot (it must be foxtrot) on a balcony looking out over the French Riviera while sipping glasses of champagne. Also, random scenes of musical dance numbers with rows of chorus girls stepping and bopping in unison. O_O It kept me entertained while folding my recently laundered wardrobe to fit in my luggage (I'm rather obsessive about folding my clothes, but I also get deathly bored by the process and am liable to be distracted if I don't have something to keep my mind occupied).

Am currently listening to the Tigana FST, which I've heard before but never properly listened to. Vienna Teng's "Gravity" just finished playing--that song makes my heart break whenever I listen to it. It's quite possibly my favorite out of all her songs. Although lately I have trouble listening to Vienna Teng songs as part of an FST. Mostly because I've heard her albums separately on repeat so many times; at this point I associate her songs so strongly to the albums themselves that they don't assimilate well into an FST mix. One of the benefits of not knowing much about music is that I have very little "mental baggage" when listening to an FST. I don't immediately associate songs with alternate contexts and hence can think of the song purely as part of the FST. For example, Era's "Ameno" will forever be war music from the Lions of Al-Rassan FST, Ayumi Hamasaki's "Inspire" will forever be the Yui song from the Seiryuu Seishi FST; Chara's "Milk" will forever be Ran from the Mood Indigo mix. (Yes, isn't it sad? I fangirl over FSTs like the way I fangirl over fics. ^_^)

I don't feel sleepy at all. Is it the anticipation? The nervousness? The sheer inability to sleep well before a bus ride? Hm...all right, I'll try to shut down this computer and go read something boring.

Yours &c.

oh, i too adore "gravity" -- it's definitely one of my favorite vienna teng songs (i don't think i could pick just one favorite). although it has suffered slightly from too much association with real life a few months back. *makes face* oh well ^_^

i've no idea about the heist FST, but your descriptions of mental images was very amusing. *grin* i was going to get up to go to lab this morning at 8am and say goodbye before you left, but instead i was lazy and slept in and didn't go until 9am. *wince* so i was there until past 3pm and i shall have to go again tomorrow to run another PCR and do some transformations. *sigh* which means that i'll have to go in at least on monday morning, if not longer, to finish the transformations... and start cultures?

*sigh* i think i'm going to end up spending more time in lab on the holiday weekend than i do on normal weekends! 0_o

have fuuuun! shall look forward to reading the posts when you get back

Am BAAAAAACK. You should listen to the Heist FST; it's very good. Daera dear, you're practically married to the lab. Are you sure you don't want to be an academic? ^_~ Will see you on Sunday; hopefully I'll have a post of substance up by then.

It's funny to think of you being garrulous. Somehow the word makes me picture you sitting on a porch smoking a pipe and telling stories about World War II in a Southern accent, and having grizzled side whiskers.

I always associate the word with a certain kind of tacky middle-aged lady wearing tight pants and strappy sandals, with her hair done up in curlers, yapping away about everything and nothing, which was kind of like my mood at the time. But old war veteran works too...
