Gung drama and a footnote

aetherangelette gave me the heads-up yesterday, but for those of you not in the know, the popular manhwa series 궁 (Gung) is being made into a K-drama and will be released next January. I only read the first volume on JanimeS, which stopped after volume two, but another group has been scanslating the rest. As usual, I'm late with the news. The first three links that came up on my image search were all Korean blog posts whining about the casting of the lead female role and harshly criticizing the actress, 윤은혜, as being too fat to play the character. Uh...okay. Clearly, immature vicious fangirls can be found in any language.
All right, I admit that I'm not a particular fan of 궁, but I do want to watch this drama for a completely shallow reason: the supporting male lead (I don't even know the name of his character because I've forgotten everything about the manhwa other than the basic premise) is cute. His name is 김정훈 (Kim Jeong-hun) and he's a member of the (former?) boy band UN.
aetherangelette has some UN songs up on her music rotation LJ at
angelyrique, and having just listened to them, I can assure you that the group is quite bad. Okay, maybe not bad, but they are completely unoriginal and generic. Nonetheless, that doesn't stop me from thinking the guy looks adorable, even though he does have orange hair in half the photos (and I hate orange hair on Asian males).
Also, am I the only person who finds it slightly disturbing that I can just click on the actor/singer's name and find nearly all his personal information on one extensive public profile page? On a easily accessible Internet portal site? I mean, we're not just talking about blood type or birthday here; I can look up how many siblings he has, what elementary school he went to, publically professed "bad habits"...creepy. No, don't worry, I shan't indulge in a celebrity obsession like Angelette--the music is too boring to support any sort of meaningful obsession--but I plan on watching the drama for the eye candy. ^_^
In other news, I've just talked myself into attempting to write up the past year and a half of research into an imitation of a scientific paper. Why do I do this to myself? (But it means a trip to California! They'll pay for half my airplane ticket! Wait, where's the money for the other half going to come from...) Anyway, please tell me to stay off LJ for the next two weeks because between this paper, the presentation I'm cobbling together for my concentration tutor, the homework I haven't done all weekend and the Four Cats submission, I really shouldn't be procrastinating.
Yours &c.
Post-script: Do I usually post so regularly about Korean stuff? Just looked back at my last several posts and was rather startled to see the recent prevalance of Korea-related posts. O_O Odd because the subject that's been occupying my mind most lately is Mesopotamian wisdom literature (courtesy of the course on Job).
Post-post-script:
apriltan asked a long, long time ago for the Haji/Shinwoo FST, and I only just remembered to re-upload it today. Here's the link. Oh, and I also re-uploaded the Sandman FST for someone who requested it, so if anyone missed the chance to download, here you go. Please comment if you download; please don't hotlink; etc. The files will be up for about two weeks unless I see the links being abused.

Date: 2005-10-04 05:31 am (UTC)He's going to be the male lead? Wow. I'm surprised~! I don't know anything about 궁 at all, but somehow it's interesting that he'd be in it. Now, who was 윤은혜 again? *goes off to see pic* XD My memory fails me. WOE.
And I get creepy feelings too, you're not alone! "He went to [insert school name here] and he had a crush on his seat partner named [insert name here] when he was in 3rd grade! Aww how cute" <-- AHHH WHAT D:
