A musical sampler

Because I really, really don't want to study for my biology midterm...here's free music for you all!
Lately, my chosen method of procrastination has been to browse Bugs Music obsessively and listen to samples of new albums. (For a while, they let you listen to the whole song, but now they only play the first half.) Then I pester
aetherangelette to get the albums for me through her mysterious sources (i.e. z-degrees.net) and play everything on continuous repeat for days. ^_^ Now you can all share the joy pain um...something.
Most of these groups are new and have only released a few albums by the way.
Nemesis, from debut album La Rose de Versailles
이쁜이
솜사탕
I don't think either of these songs are all that characteristic of Nemesis' style, which is darker and kind of, hm, more gothic in the other tracks on the album, but..."이쁜이" goes up because it's my father's pet name for me (oh hush) and "솜사탕" (means "cotton candy") because it's hilarious. I recommend you get the second one at least because its instrumentals are pretty fabulous. (The rest of the album is up at
yongwon if you're interested.)
PB's, from first album Polaroid
IM
숨쉬는 사막
Oh my gosh. I love this album unconditionally. I don't know why, but I love their songs anyway. They're very laid-back and sleepy, and it's odd because I usually prefer more energetic songs, but nonetheless, I can listen to this album for hours. "IM" is the song that made me want to listen to them in the first place: the lead vocalist has a lovely voice backed up by a great band. As for "숨쉬는 사막" (means "breathing desert"), I don't really like the main melody all that much, but it has absolutely gorgeous instrumentals. PB's has done quite a few OST theme songs, and I think it shows in their music.
Loveholic, from second album Invisible Things
Sky
Okay, so Loveholic is neither new or obscure, but I only just got around to listening to the rest of their second album. Anyway, I chose "Sky" because it got stuck in my head last weekend.
Rocket Diary, from debut album 20 Instant Life

I hijacked
aetherangelette's K-pop rotation LJ so that the world could witness the sheer coolness that is Rocket Diary. Go download now if you haven't yet.
Hm, I haven't transferred Modern Juice's debut album to this computer yet. Oh well, I suppose I might as well stop here. I must admit that my tastes in K-rock run more toward easygoing pop-rock and the occasional whiny punk. I don't really like some of the more "hardcore" groups. (Well, I am pretty plebeian when it comes to music.) ^_^
It's odd because over the past two years, my genre preferences in music have been more or less tilted towards electronica, especially downtempo, IDM and sheer, unashamed technopop, but when it comes to Korean music, I head straight for the pop-rock or alt-rock groups. O_O I mean, it's true that the genres aren't exactly mutually exclusive, but it's not like there's that much overlap. >_>
Yours &c.

Date: 2005-10-25 04:20 am (UTC)It could be worse. My mother still complains about how she should've gotten my brother braces because "his teeth don't have that completely perfect look." (Orthodontist said maybe he needed a retainer, but not really).

Date: 2005-10-25 01:32 pm (UTC)I never did wear braces, but I had several cavities, which probably disqualifies me for having "pretty teeth". ^_^;;
