Lowell House, on the Feast of St. Turibius de Mogrovejo
There's nothing more depressing than handing in a take-home exam where you know you did the last problem incorrectly. I'm also missing parts here and there because I am too bleary-eyed to grapple with Matlab anymore.
I came to a realization ten minutes ago: I'm going to fail all my classes this semester. Okay, forgive the hyperbole. Failure means doing below average. All my classes means all my advanced biology classes, which number two at the moment. I'm reasonably certain that I am handing in a below-average take-home midterm right now, and I'm even more certain that I did below-average on the OEB midterm on Tuesday. There is the oh-so-very faint hope of redemption if I do spectacularly well on the finals for both courses but that requires some leeway for catching up, and this spring break must be spent studying for the GRE.
Korean exam plus biochemistry problem set tomorrow. Also need to pack tonight. My mind cannot process the fact that I'm going home tomorrow.
Yours &c.

Date: 2006-03-23 04:57 pm (UTC)Re: grad school, I'm applying to programs in molecular biology/biochemistry/systems biology (depending on the university and what the departments are like). I'll be applying this fall so no year off for me. I'm still researching where, but the obvious choices are Stanford, UCSF, Rockefeller, Harvard, MIT, UC Berkeley, maybe Princeton, maybe Yale, maybe Scripps...I need to do a lot of research over the summer to figure out where the faculty I would want to work with are. Mostly applying to California or New York or Boston unis; am ignoring places like UT Southwestern despite their good reputation because of locale.
