Lowell House, on the Feast of St. Turibius de Mogrovejo

There's nothing more depressing than handing in a take-home exam where you know you did the last problem incorrectly. I'm also missing parts here and there because I am too bleary-eyed to grapple with Matlab anymore.

I came to a realization ten minutes ago: I'm going to fail all my classes this semester. Okay, forgive the hyperbole. Failure means doing below average. All my classes means all my advanced biology classes, which number two at the moment. I'm reasonably certain that I am handing in a below-average take-home midterm right now, and I'm even more certain that I did below-average on the OEB midterm on Tuesday. There is the oh-so-very faint hope of redemption if I do spectacularly well on the finals for both courses but that requires some leeway for catching up, and this spring break must be spent studying for the GRE.

Korean exam plus biochemistry problem set tomorrow. Also need to pack tonight. My mind cannot process the fact that I'm going home tomorrow.

Yours &c.

This may be the stupidest question ever, but where are you thinking of going to grad school, and when? And in what? Haha, I sound like such a typical nosy Hunterite.

I feel like there comes a point in every Hunterite's life when he or she ceases to care about their academic performance -- at least that's my experience haha.

I feel like those points come to me every exam season (twice or thrice a semester).

Re: grad school, I'm applying to programs in molecular biology/biochemistry/systems biology (depending on the university and what the departments are like). I'll be applying this fall so no year off for me. I'm still researching where, but the obvious choices are Stanford, UCSF, Rockefeller, Harvard, MIT, UC Berkeley, maybe Princeton, maybe Yale, maybe Scripps...I need to do a lot of research over the summer to figure out where the faculty I would want to work with are. Mostly applying to California or New York or Boston unis; am ignoring places like UT Southwestern despite their good reputation because of locale.

That sounds really nice -- especially if you end up on the West Coast. It'll be a change of scenery, at last :).

Heh, that's the plan. Although a part of me wants to just go back to New York where things are familiar and comfortable (and where I won't need to drive). ^_^

How about you? You're pretty decided on grad school too, right? Lit or psych?

I figure Psych would be more worthwhile ... but I don't think I'll be going straight out of college. But I'm definitely hoping to go to a grad school in southern California :). That's all I've got planned for now.

Or rather WOULD be. My grammar has gotten worse since I've been here. The British have really terrible grammar!

Yeah, I understand; I feel completely worn out as well. Hope all clears up soon.
