I don't need to take the GRE subject test again after all! ::rejoices::

Now I just need to make sure my GPA doesn't sink (too much) after this semester. But right now, I feel like anything is possible, yes, even getting into the grad school of my choice. ^_^

Yours &c.

720/97th percentile. Which is much more than I expected (I thought I was going to get in the mid to low 600s). And you?

Haha, ribosome, you make me laugh. You were worried? XD

I got a 690. I was very pleased with that ^_^ Congrats!

that's 95th percentile. (I suck at cell bio though, lol)

I apparently suck at biochemistry...which is really ironic considering our concentration. It also does not bode well for the upcoming BS56 final. >_>;; But no matter! ::throws all worries to the wind for the time being::

I was actually rather worried (my goal was to get above 90th percentile, and I wasn't sure if I'd manage that). -_-;; But it all turned out for the best. Only the general test left to go...but that at least will be fun. Hey, we can study vocab together over the summer. XD

Trust me, I was really surprised at my biochem score...the same as my molecular bio and genetics and both way better than my cell bio. Haha. Which is funny because I did way better on the cell bio on the practice exam than on anything else. Oh wells.

And it has no bearing whatsoever on your ability to do BS 56 material! The GRE biochem is "let's memorize lots of randomass enzymes!!1!one" and BS 56 is "membranes, proteins, and thermodynamics, is what it is!" (imagine Guido saying that). Thus they are completely unrelated! :)

Obviously your week of being locked in your apartment by your mother paid off ^_~

P.S. Congrats to you too! Yay, we conquered the subject test without test prep books and with only a few weeks of studying! Go us!

Not absolutely sure yet, but probably Stanford (on account of it being so big) and Rockefeller (on account of it being in New York). Although I'm considering Princeton too (^_~), as well as UCSF, UC Berkeley, MIT and a bunch of other places. My goal is to draw up a final list of schools this summer and start writing personal statements. XD

Any tips or general advice on grad school apps, by the way? ^_^;;

Come to Princeton! ^_- We can dork out together. :) Now for actual advice. Caveat: I was kinda burnt out (read: a hollowed shell of my former driven self) when I was applying, so uhhhh. I *can* say with truth that:

(1) I think Rockefeller is populated by wankers, but that's 'cause ummm in my experience they hate not-East-Coast applicants. *G* (2) Berkeley seems to treat its students poorly in terms of housing/funding, and the students don't seem terribly happy there (same goes for Columbia, in case you didn't see that post). (3) The profs and therefore your interviews will be unpredictable, so don't try too hard to prepare. I think the only *really* important thing is to know your previous lab work and be able to call up its details.

Good luck! And don't freak out too much; I HIGHLY doubt you'll have any problems whatsoever.

P.S. To be more specific than the above: Columbia will pay quite well, and the housing doesn't look atrocious, but there are schools that do better. It's mostly that the atmosphere was too cool/hard and the students seemed so forcibly blase/world-weary/New York.
