kaydeefalls that Tom Stoppard will be writing the screenplay for the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. That has officially made my day.
I read a collection of fairy tales by A.S. Byatt over the weekend, including The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye, which I liked, even though one would think I had very little in common with the protagonist. The way that readign stories sort of forces you outside of stories and yet trying to create a narrative out of your own life...it's hard to explain, but it "resonated" with me. Hah, "resonate" sounds so pompous.
Today was the last day of my math class, for this semester at least, and at the end, the professor read this rather beautiful passage from Wordsworth's Preludes. I officially forgive him for all the agony and anxiety from which he made me suffer this semester (and from which I will also suffer next semester, fool that I am). It was a nice gesture, and as movie cliché as it may seem, it was truly heartfelt. It helps, of course, that he reads poetry wonderfully.
