Meme, plus holiday drabble

Yes, it's old news by now, but it bears repeating:
blind_go reveal is up!
Took developmental biology final (arguably the most important) on Saturday. It wasn't too bad, but I get the feeling I didn't write enough in my answers. -_- Oh well, it's over, and I did the best I could. I still have two final exams left but alas, I have even less motivation to study than usual. I spent all yesterday afternoon at the Whitehead trying to harvest the last flat of plants and didn't finish, so I'll have to go back today. Part of the problem was that although my cold is gone, my chest congestion isn't, and I've still been prone to coughing fits, particularly in the evening. I supose an afternoon exposed to plant debris and dust didn't help the congestion. Ugh, I have this disgusting mental images of the dead macrophages that are most likely gumming my lungs at the moment. -_- I caved and took some Mucinex last night, and I can breathe more easily now, although I still feel like I want to scrub out my bronchioles.

canis_m: Name five totally self-indulgent story ideas. (The fanfic you would write if you didn't care if you had an audience and also had no shame.)
1. Black Jewels/Gundam Wing fusion. I, uh, actually wrote the first two chapters in eleventh grade. It's sitting under password-lock on my hard drive at this very moment and will never see the light of day if I have my way.
2. More of that Rurouni Kenshin Regency AU, complete with vast historical inaccuracies and typical romance tropes. Unfortunately, I don't think I could ever stop laughing long enough to actually write it down.
3. Shin/Yankumi, version Triad! Set somewhere towards the end of Qing dynasty. I think the rough outline goes that Yankumi is the granddaughter of the syndicate that runs a major smuggling ring (or some other illegal activity of that nature), and Shin is the young son of a mandarin who runs away and inadvertently becomes a novitiate in the syndicate. He falls in love with her from afar!--though his stoic maleness refuses to let him acknowledge it except in attempting daring feats of martial arts. She becomes his teacher in [insert long appropriate martial arts sect name here], and they set off to wander the Jianghu and have adventures. But what will happen when his true identity is uncovered?! Okay, I'm getting carried away. (I also have a Victorian AU version, where Shin becomes Yankumi's ward.)
4. Ravages of Time fanfiction of any sort. Actually, I have absolutely no ideas when it comes to Ravages of Time, but if I did, I probably would not write them down (or at least refuse to publish them) because nothing I wrote would be worthy of the source material, etc., etc.
5. ...Kendo AU of any sports series. Hahaha. The reason I don't is because I would be too tempted to steal my plot and characters from real life. Not only would that cause me great embarassment but also lead to my premature demise. (Sadly enough, even when writing Balance, I could not resist the temptation to quote from real life as anyone from the club will immediately recognize.) But honestly, the history of the club is a novel in the making. I wouldn't even need to tweak it, except to make it sound less sheerly implausible. Oh, and probably tone down the universal obsession with academics. Heck, even if I ignored the history and just took the current state of the club, it would still make a great Jump series. Can the HRKC underdogs prevail against the long-time Californian champions in their very own home tournament?! (Of course, in fiction, the underdogs would, you know, actually win or at least make it out of the first round.)
Anyway, on that note, here's the last of the holiday drabbles I sent out in the Christmas cards.
A Christmas Date

It snowed all week before Christmas. Not surprisingly, the street courts were covered with white drifts and melting puddles.
Kamio stared at the muddy, slushy ground in dismay. "You don't expect me to practice in /this/, do you?"
Shinji simply raised his racket and gave a small but infuriating smirk.
"You’ve been hanging around that Echizen too much," Kamio informed him as he took out his own racket. "You know, I could've been on a Christmas date with An-chan right now."
"But you aren't."
"Yeah, 'cause that bastard Momoshiro asked her first." Kamio served the ball with unusual force.
Shinji returned it with a sharp slice. "There's always tennis, Kamio."
"Yeah, there'll always be tennis."

Date: 2007-01-17 01:52 am (UTC)Yeah, I was thinking about the political nonsense, and it occurred to me that I'd need to, you know, cut stuff out to make it sound more realistic. Truth is stranger than fiction indeed. -_-
