Ad Mundo Exteriore,
I've discovered the original manga/anime section at Fanfiction.net and now I'm currently laughing myself silly at the ridiculous plots these people come up with. Half the place is filled with original shounen ai or yaoi manga, and the stories are so ridiculous...oh my gosh, I'm trying to keep a straight face, because I'm at work and ostensibly supposed to be serious.
There are a couple of good writers, but even they make mistakes, like "he was not only worried, but also anxious." ::pauses, then bursts into hysterical laughter:: Yeah, yeah, I know it's not that funny, but I haven't had enough sleep.
Original anime/manga aren't always terrible though. I've read a couple that I want to see continued, although that's probably unlikely since their last updates were last year. Meg, who writes for CCS, (she's at Fenya.net) has a series called Four Colors Academy on her website that's really good. Unfortunately it only has four parts. ::sniffs::
The funniest ones are written in first person and begin with long, detailed descriptions of the character's hair, eyes and usual clothing. It sounds so funny, when you imagine someone telling you, "Well, since I have nothing better to do, I'm going to describe myself. I have long pale blond hair, with ice blue eyes like shards of crystal and lashes that are way too long." That's actually a paraphrase of a paragraph I read...not even a parody. Can you imagine someone coming up to you on the street and settling down to describe himself in detail? In really vivid, hyperbolic and cliched detail? LOL.
This sequence has taken all day. I started at around 10:40 and it's still not finished. Urgh.
But at least I spent the entire morning and half of the afternoon laughing at badly-written manga. Some were actually pretty good, like that one with the girl who ends up psychic and nearly goes mad. Or the one about the boy who turns into a vampire and ends up soul-bonded to a necromancer who wants to hit on him. ^_^ Ah insane, isn't it? I was thinking of trying to write one myself. Don't worry, I won't inflict my attempts at storylines on the world. They'll all remain nice and safe inside my computer.
Which reminds me, I didn't work on my fic last night, even though I ordered myself to. ::sighs:: Instead I finished my summer chemistry, while singing along to the GW boys. This fic is never going to be finished, which sucks because I have the last chapter all written in my head.
All right, ladies and gentlemen, I must conclude. ::bows:: The pleasure of your acquaintance is all mine. But now, I shall turn my attention away from the joys of rambling to the faceless public and wait patiently for this baka program to finish. Sayonara...
