Ad Mundo Exteriore,

Oh, I forgot to mention: When I saw the Two Towers on Saturday, the first matinee show was completely sold out by 11:30, so I had to go to the one at 4:00. We arrived forty minutes before the show was supposed to start, but we still had to stand in a huge line for ten minutes before our tickets were accepted. Then we had to stand in another huge line for about five minutes before we were allowed to take our seats. The whole place was full in less than two minutes, and at the end of the movie, the entire theater applauded. Nice, neh? If it doesn't win the Golden Globe or the Oscar for Best Picture, I am going to explode.

Of course, knowing the silly movie awards, they'll just give the special effects stuff and save the meaningful awards for more "realistic" films. -_- Argh! Fantasy does not mean trivial! Sheesh!

Ad Mundo Exteriore,

My Sony VAIO is heating up too quickly because despite the incredibly annoying sound of the fan, the ventilation system is not working. I'm living under a constant fear of computer meltdown. ::annoyed::

I haven't done any work since the start of vacation and will not do any work until Thursday, because of Christmas. This is bad. This is very bad. I have three papers and four long homeworks, plus trying to generate random kuso for those writing competitions. Why am I submitting stuff to all these contests again? Oh right, need money for skyscraper-high tuition.

I've just read and edited lots and lots of college essays for a friend, and while they weren't bad at all, I'm still exhausted from staring at the screen too long. I finished a new site layout but I need to actually make sure I have all the latest versions of the site pages before I can reupload them onto a new host. Except the hosting service I chose is just impossible with server access. ::groans:: Why me?! I think I'll stick to Zero Catch after all, instead of Bravenet. If anyone knows a good free web hosting service that uses banner ads, has at least 50 MB space, and FTP access (the last is most important) then please, please, please tell me. Zero Catch has all three abovementioned conditions, but all its extra services like guestbook and message board depends on Bravenet, which is not letting me log in right now. I thought that if I'm going to depend on Bravenet for everything else, I might as well have it host the site too, right? Except the login doesn't work. Oy vey. And they claim quality service.

Yesterday, I was reading over some old journal entries, and I realized that I wrote like a Victorian in ninth grade. Dashes and elaborate phrasing and ornate calligraphy and all. Not the random capitalized words, however. So, Lyd-chan, there you have the source of my ongoing Victorian era fetish, which is indulging itself by reading A.S. Byatt's A Biographer's Tale. The book is about a biographer of a biographer of the consummate Victorian gentleman. Naturally, I find myself in sympathetic company there. Enough of my babbling. Liberi Fatali may accuse me of going mainstream, but I maintain that as long as I avoid books by the likes of Stephen King (as worthy or unworthy of respect as he may be), I'm retaining my on-the-fringe SF/F-exclusive reader status.

kaydee says Gangs of New York is really good. Which has moved it up to the top of my must-see movie list, after The Two Towers (for the second time). Actually, any historical film makes me squeal, especially one that looks as lavish as Gangs of New York does. And despite Leo DiCaprio (again, as worthy or unworthy of respect as he may be), it has Daniel Day-Lewis, who has been a personal favorite ever since watching My Left Foot. Hopefully, can latch onto L.P. to go see after she gets back from her Florida vacation.

Going to see The Way Home on Wednesday, with my parents. It's subtitled, like Chunhyang from two years ago, so I may improve my Korean. ^_^
