Amazement

Ad Mundo Exteriore,

I only needed to skip 40 to read all the backlogged entries over the last six days. Wow.

I will read all the fic posts later, I promise. But right now, I can't even afford to give a long and detailed account of NHSMUN, which was probably the best conference yet, despite the aggravation during committee session.

Just wanted to announce: the UK delegation (not mine, but still, honor by association) won an award of excellence (i.e. second place) and an award for research and preparation. Keith and Lutful got an award of merit (i.e. third place) for NGOs.

The students from the University of Chicago Lab School are total snits. They can be nice when you try to be nonaggressive and submissive around them, but boy, they can be annoying when feeling threatened. One of the delegates from Spain, who is currently a junior, made snotty remarks about how pretentious it was to use the French name for Doctors Without Borders (which is a French organization) in our resolution. I was especially insulted because I wrote that clause! I usually don't think of it as Doctors Without Borders, so it wasn't even a conscious attempt to show off. The other delegate listed all the colleges he applied to and all the ones he was accepted for, and all I could think was, "Wow, you're obnoxious. You're applying to every single Ivy, and taking away spots from your own schoolmates. That's just mean." (I do mean every single Ivy, plus Georgetown, John Hopkins and Stanford.) The six private college limit at Hunter does make sense now.

Nevertheless, they weren't completely detestable, just annoying at moments. Now, I have to get used to not being called "Luxembourg" all the time.
