Ad Mundo Exteriore,
Finally downloading Mac OS 10.1.5 software update, an installation file which is 22.4 MB, far too large for my poor dialup connection. But I might as well get the dirty work over with. ;_; I finally got the XviD codec to work, but my CPU is so slow that the image lags far behind the sound and freezes every five seconds. I've missed so many frames with actual subtitles that I'm still not sure what's going on. Oh, did I mention that I only got it to work on Father's laptop, not any of mine? Actually, I'm not sure whether it's the CPU or the RAM but whatever it is, not even Father's two-year-old HP laptop has the capability to play XviD AVI files. So unhappy...It doesn't matter so much for Hikaru no Go because technically I've read the manga, but I want to watch Naruto! It doesn't help that Dean's been rubbing it in by going on and on about how cool episode 30 gets. From the fifty or so frames that I could see of that file, the series does seem interesting, but...but...I couldn't see the action scenes properly! I missed half the dialogue with Orochimaru! Argh! When can I get a new desktop?
The thing is, I got my first computer when I was two, and right now, I have three laptops, but I've never had anything that was of standard quality. I always got the PCs that my father couldn't sell at his computer store, and after he went into insurance, I just got Father's leftover laptops. (Except for this iBook, which is why I like it so much. ^_^) So my parents promised me that I'll get a top-of-the-line computer for once in my life, and with Harvard's student discounts, it actually won't be too expensive. But I have to wait until August to go computer buying, so until then, I'm going to have to make do.
I just looked at my inbox and apparently someone wants to see the Naruto wallpaper. (Um, if I actually know you, anonymous commenter, please leave your name next time? Just so I don't get freaked out?) Alright, here it is. Featuring the child Haku, fallen on snow. Ridiculously simple and probably not one of my best.
I think I'm being sucked into Harry Potter fanfiction. Just in time for the fifth book. >_<
