Celebrity sighting
Jun. 8th, 2004 11:31 amAd Mundo Exteriore,
The news of the day--or rather, yesterday--is that...
lush_rimbaud,
tryogeru and I went to see the Harry Potter movie at the E-Walk cinema in Times Square, and on our way out, we saw Peter Jackson.
Yes, Peter Jackson, director of Lord of the Rings.
I was talking on the phone to my mother at the time, and Lydia commented, "Hey, doesn't he look just like Peter Jackson?" I looked up to see a short, plump, hobbit-like man in a red polo shirt, who did indeed look like Peter Jackson (and gave us a rather irritated glance as he passed by us). But I thought, "Hah, the likes of me seeing the real Peter Jackson? Yeah, right, it's just a lookalike," and continued talking on the phone, while Lydia and Tryogeru stood in a state of frantic indecision over whether to take a photograph or chase after him for an autograph or generally act like rabid fangirls. (I had my new digital camera with me, at the time. Which reminds me...yay, I have a digital camera! ::is gleeful::)
We finally followed him up the escalator, and found that there was this blocked-off section, where you needed a pass to enter. It did look like some sort of special event was going on, so I started wondering if he really was Peter Jackson, and not a lookalike. We obviously didn't have passes so we eventually went downstairs, and on the first floor, there was a red carpet out and many important-looking people standing around, with cameras around them. We asked one of the bystanders, and he told us that it was the premiere for a documentary film about Broadway. And so that pretty much clinched it...we probably did see Peter Jackson, and he was within three feet of us as we exited the theatre. O_O Weird, neh? I didn't think these things could possibly happen to me.
Oh, and as for the Harry Potter movie...( In case of spoilers )
Started watching a gangster Korean drama, called All In. Will comment on it once I finish. ^_^
