Love was the pearl
Like a grain of sand, he landed in her thoughts and grew into distraction, until he became something more than stolen glances and chance conversations.
"When did you fall in love with me?"
"I didn't."
"Ouch."
"One day, I woke up to find you lodged within my heart and knew that plucking you out would be exceedingly painful."
She did not meet his eyes. He reached down and took her hand.
"Yeah. Me too."
