Love was the pearl

Like a grain of sand, he landed in her thoughts and grew into distraction, until he became something more than stolen glances and chance conversations.

"When did you fall in love with me?"

"I didn't."

"Ouch."

"One day, I woke up to find you lodged within my heart and knew that plucking you out would be exceedingly painful."

She did not meet his eyes. He reached down and took her hand.

"Yeah. Me too."

END

Note: I keep thinking that this drabble was meant for a particular pairing but I can't for the life of me remember which one, which is why it's labeled as original fiction.

I can't tell who's talking in this. XD More mollusks! This is so sweet, my heart melted, it works fine as original fiction.

"Exceedingly" threw me for a loop, only because I don't know anyone who would actually use this word except as a way to make fun of wordy people. But that's probably just me.

Haha, yes, I'm not sure where the "exceedingly" came from either...maybe I should put in a different word.

I had a huge craving for oysters while I was writing these themes. XD

Only change it if it really does bother you. ^^ I wasn't kidding about the "probably just me" -- in RL I tend to hang out with a group of pretty hardcore anti-intellectuals.
