He drops by before the wedding, just in time to see the veil drop over her eyes.
"Isn't it bad luck to see the bride?" she laughs as she catches sight of him in the mirror.
"Only for the groom," he replies and gives her a careful hug, trying not to crush her corsage or the flowers in her hair.
She gazes at him through the lace, her eyes as large and dark as ever. "I hope you'll be as happy as me one day, Nakatsu."
"I'm happy now," he tells her and backs away.

Later at the reception, Sano twirls Mizuki around, straight into Nakatsu's arms. "The second dance belongs to the best man," he tells him, "and the best friend."
Nakatsu looks back at him, startled. Sano gives him a slight nod, and Ashiya places a soft hand on his shoulder. "Thank you," he says softly.
