Lowell House, on the Feast of Ste. Madeline Sophie Barat

Last final of my undergraduate career is over. I'm done with college! What a weird, weird thought.

The feeling of relief is kind of buried underneath the current stress about packing. My parents are showing up tomorrow morning so we can bring the bulk of my belongings back home. I'll be coming back to Cambridge on Monday for senior week and commencement, but there'll be nothing left in my room except for my computer and my clothes. The goal is to pack everything that I can possibly live without until graduation.

I always hate move-out because every year, my mother arrives, often shortly after I've had my last final of the year, and asks with that unique tone of disapproval that only mothers can manage, "This is all you've managed to pack?" And then there's of course the yearly saga of "How are we going to fit everything in the car?" and "Why didn't you put more things in storage before we got here?" Oh, and last year's lovely new addition, "If you had a boyfriend, perhaps your father wouldn't have to risk injuring his back by lugging all those heavy boxes for you." >_<

Ugh. So stressed out. Hopefully, going to see Pirates of the Caribbean tonight will help me relax a little. Also, [livejournal.com profile] angelyrique is coming to Boston and staying over for a night, so I'll have company while packing. Yay!

Yours &c.

CONGRATULATIONS! <3 <3 <3

(Aw, the boyfriend argument is going to get me, too, when I go off to college.)

I know what you mean about packing. I totally feel like packing is the most stressful thing ever, no matter where you're going and what you're doing. And people like parents tend to only make it worse, with their comments etc.

As for the boyfriend argument -- I'd argue back and say that boys tend to not be very helpful. Y'know, like mine left me with more stuff to pack and move, rather than with less trouble. ;D

There should be a support group for people who loathe packing. ;_; It wasn't so bad this time though; I guess I've learned to get things done to my mother's satisfaction over the years.

Hm, good point! I'll have to remember that for next time. XD

Thanks! Congrats to you on graduating as well. ^_^

Packing wasn't as bad as I feared this time around...but I'm not looking forward to the move to Berkeley. -_-

Congrats! So, where are you doing grad school? I must have missed it when you revealed it--sorry.

Thanks! I'm going to grad school at Berkeley. It'll be interesting, moving to the opposite side of the country. ^_^

Congratulations on finishing!!!!!!! There are not words for my glee whenever I hear the words 'last exam/paper/final of my undergraduate career.' I enjoyed my undergrad a lot and I'll miss the Classics academics parts of it (um...2/3 of my transcript), but at the same time, it is such an enormous, freeing relief to be done. And I love to hear that other people are done, too!

Bfs are not all they are cracked up to be. The one year my roommate had a bf, he didn't help us move anything. Siblings, on the other hand, are quite useful. My brother and his friend were doing the East Coast college tour when I was moving into my room sophomore year, and they carried boxes and a dorm fridge from the basement to my fifth floor suite.

Thank you! Yes, it really is a relief to be done...I think I've finally reached the stage when I'm ready to leave and I don't have regrets anymore.

And congrats to you on graduating! Hope you enjoy your summer travels abroad!

Alas, it's too late for me to acquire siblings. -_- I always did want a little brother though.
