Blair Hall Apts., on the Feast of St. Benedict

Met up with [livejournal.com profile] starlighter again yesterday and had fun times eating Beard Papa cream puffs and green tea ice cream while enjoying the indoor air-conditioning. New York is suffering from a heat wave, and the past two days have been unbearably hot, although today has cooled down to a slightly more tolerable temperature. (Slightly.)

I'll be flying to San Francisco on Friday so I can go apartment-hunting around Berkeley. Timing the housing search has been very delicate: we need to contact landlords in advance to schedule viewings, but we also need to make sure the apartment is still available by the time we get there. I've been emailing and calling away (and so has the future roommate), and I suspect I'll still be at it for the next few days. (I wonder if Craigslist has a mobile-friendly version of its site?) Between the two of us, we've managed to pin down about five viewings for certain so far...hopefully we'll have signed a lease by the time we get back.

Ugh, I don't feel altogether prepared for this trip. Still need to print out copies of my credit report, the spreadsheet with information on all the apartments we're going to view, and various contact numbers. Anyone have general apartment-hunting advice? What to check or watch out for, what to bring, etc.

Yours &c.

Thank you Kara! And good luck with your apartment situation too...have you found a new place yet?
