Daily blather
Jan. 6th, 2003 07:56 pmAd Mundo Exteriore,
Actually, I finished this while procrastinating on my HUNS paper:

Dean, or uangu or whatever his online handle is, told me this morning that I won the poll on his xanga blog for most evil person. My competitors? Dean himself and Anyo. I find this terribly amusing. Apparently, I was in a unanimous lead until David Yu went and voted sixteen times for the other two. But I'm still in the lead! ::laughs maniacally::
Lyd-chan, I downloaded this absolutely beautiful Winamp skin of Elijah Wood. Want the link?
I'm supposed to deliver this presentation in French (five to ten minutes) on an issue of my choice, and since I didn't feel like doing too much research, I chose fanfiction (and fanart) and its legal consequences concerning copyright law. Is it illegal, should it be banned, does it depend on whether the author permits it or not, etc., etc., etc. Anyone wish to contribute any arguments for either side of the debate? I'll bribe you with personalized LJ icons! Hey, I'll make two for everyone who posts arguments directly in French! (Lydia, I know you want to rant about this.)
L.P. just posted this article on how Bush is such a great party leader and is turning out to be more involved in world politics than people expected. And how his brand of "compassionate conservatism" is "softer" than the Reagan/Gingrich Republicanism. Ahem. As an ardent anti-Republican (no offense to anyone on my friends list), I must disagree. I can't forgive anyone who backed out of the ABM treaty unilaterally and refused to negotiate the Kyoto Protocol. ::sticks tongue out at Bush:: Also, it's partly due to Bush's inept handling of the North Korea issue early on in his presidency that has led us to the current Korean peninsula nuclear crisis. (Oh, do forgive me, Mr. Powell. It's not a "crisis". Just the possibility of a nuclear weapons arms race in East Asia.) I mean, does anyone get this impression that Bush can handle only one major foreign policy area at a time? First, Afghanistan and Al Qaeda, now Iraq. Any other emergencies that pop up around the world must wait until President Bush can turn his attention to them. -_-
