Blair Hall Apts., on the Feast of St. Sixtus II

All the excitement on the friends list about setting up new Wordpress blogs finally spurred me to update my own very much backlogged reading blog, which is very minimalistic and lacks the neat plug-ins and pretty themes I've been seeing on everyone's installations. I kind of feel tempted to upgrade the setup I have now, but the reading blog doesn't really serve a social purpose. It's more of an archive than anything else. (I also realized today that I have, for some unknown reason, three wordpress.com accounts. -_-)

Continuing to work on the drabble requests...I wanted to finish them off before I left for Berkeley tomorrow, but that doesn't look very likely. But rest assured, I am working on them.

I've been meeting up with friends for the past few days, and every single one has been generous enough to treat me out. I'm starting to feel like a mooch. ^_^ On Friday, I had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] tryogeru before going to see Hairspray, which was a fun movie. The opening song is probably going to stay stuck in my head for another month, but it's definitely worth seeing. John Travolta makes a frighteningly convincing woman. Later, I met [livejournal.com profile] angelyrique in Manhattan for dinner, and we managed to fit in an hour's worth of karaoke before eating out in Koreatown.

On Sunday, I spent the afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] serendip and [livejournal.com profile] starlighter, who by the way are the people to hang out with in New York because they know so many cool places to eat. On [livejournal.com profile] starlighter's recommendation, we went to this dessert bar, ChikaLicious, where I got the warm chocolate tart as part of the prix fixe menu. Yum. Also, they had an inventive way of serving iced coffee, namely with coffee ice cubes so that the drink doesn't get diluted with water as the ice melts. After that, [livejournal.com profile] serendip took us to a Belgian fries place, where we ended up eating two orders of fries with three different choices of dip. (It wasn't the healthiest afternoon outing, but hey, one should be allowed to indulge once in a while.) We finished up with karaoke at a cheap Japanese place near Koreatown. Tuna and I finally managed to pull off "SINCERELY ~ever dream~" (one of the Hikaru no Go OP songs) without too much disgrace, and Jae Young impressed us by managing to keep up with the Korean rap on Super Junior songs.

Yesterday, I met up with [livejournal.com profile] ldmoonflower, who ended up having dinner at my house, and we talked for hours until my mother started worrying about her getting home late. She lives only a couple of blocks away from me, but my mother is always paranoid about walking about on the streets after dark. >_> We also met up again today, this time with Serena who just took her boards, and had lunch as per tradition at the neighborhood diner. Now I'm full and feeling sleepy.

Yours &c.

I keep meaning to wish you good luck on everything, but my attention span has become depressingly short. ^^; So here it is--I wish you the best of luck on your trip and at Berkeley itself! ♥ Have fun on the west coast!

(Also, errrr, I am an idiot. You were on the paranoia meme I did a few days ago and yours was one of the nice ones I wrote, but I filtered the post and then promptly forgot to add you to the filter itself. ^^; This defeats the whole purpose of a paranoia meme, but in the spirit of congratulations--you're number 3.)

*drools* All of that food sounds so, so good, beginning with proper Korean food. I thought it couldn't get any better than coffee ice cubes, but proper fries!
