Stanley Hall, on the Feast of St. Joseph of Cupertino

I've come to the conclusion that it is probably impossible for me to finish both my submission for [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts (for which [livejournal.com profile] lacewood has already given me a deadline extension, which I've predictably also failed to meet) and [livejournal.com profile] blind_go.

I have more than half of the [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts story written, and since I think I know how to finish it, all I need to do is find a space of time where I'm going to be sitting at the computer for long enough to write the rest. On the other hand, I'd feel rather horrible if I don't submit for [livejournal.com profile] blind_go, and I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] aishuu will never forgive me if I wriggle out, since she's apparently organizing a "hunt" for this round. >_> Which one should I try to finish?! Gah.

I've noticed several people on my friends list posting about dropping out, and I'd just like to say that while I will probably make sad faces at you, I do understand completely if you find that you're unable to finish a fic for the deadline. I know that [livejournal.com profile] blind_go puts a lot of pressure on writers, but the last thing I want is for the challenge to stop being fun.

Belated happy birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] aishuu and [livejournal.com profile] moderntime! Sorry, I've been so out of it lately that I haven't kept track of birthdays at all. And now that I look at the birthday list again, a really belated happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] mmmdraco! (Sorry, sorry. >_<)

I managed to wake up at 7 this morning and not only ate breakfast but got to lab early. Apparently, the only motivation that will get me out of bed before 8:30 is needing to run an experiment. >_>

(Posting by email since I'm on a lab computer. Let's see if it works. Edit: Didn't realize Gmail inserted line breaks into my text. Fixed the post to look more normal.)

Yours &c.

Aishuu will forgive, since she's bailing this round, too. Too much to do outside of it.

And thanks. ^_^

;_; I know what you mean. This is a tough time of year. I'm going to be so impressed by the people who manage to submit in time.

I'm sowwee. Work and illness teamed up against me and left me with very little time and energy for anything else, let alone writing fic. Ah real life. How you seem to love getting in the way of my precious online fun. Still, never mind. I'll hopefully finish the fic I was working on for [livejournal.com profile] blind_go eventually anyway and post it in my writing journal.

Uh... request a fic from me or something so that I don't feel so bad about dropping out? ;__;

No, no, don't feel bad! The whole point of my post was to say that I understand, and I don't want people to feel guilty over it. (Besides, I know exactly what you mean about RL getting in the way; am very much in the same situation myself.) And don't worry, you're not the only person defaulting. I think this time of year is difficult for everyone, especially for those of us who are students.

Would love to see your fic if you do get a chance to finish it though! ^_^ And ooh, can I really request a drabble? ::is absolutely shameless about requesting:: I'd love to see more of this fic (it can be an interlude rather than a full chapter).

I've already started writing it. ♥ I have about 1,700 words done already, although the chapter will end up being a lot longer than that. I will definitely make sure to dedicate it to you when I post it. ♥

I will be very ;____; if you can't finish your IB story but I'll TOTALLY understand. XD Don't stress yourself out too much about it, I know that blind_go is a big committment too, especially on top of school.

So yeah, let me know how it works out, but really, don't beat yourself up about it, either way. ^^;

It's not even a very long fic idea this time around, so I really just need enough time to sit and finish it. I keep coming home late and going to sleep early though. But I'll see how far I get tonight? ^_^

I had this idea during the first blind_go chat of having the next set of submissions in waves. People sign up for a week they like best, try to post for it, and then there's guessing of that group (making it a bit easier), and lets them work around other deadlines and RL. The only problem would be making sure enough fics made it in for each round to keep the competition strong.

(On a side note, I just realized that I never received my prize for round 2. >_<)

Also! Thank you for the belated birthday wishes. They are still much appreciated.

And, no one will hate anyone for not doing blind_go. There should still be plenty of response. Though, who knows if some people "dropping out" might have good ideas and such in time?

...See, the only problem with that is that even with a fewer number of fics for each "round", [livejournal.com profile] silvermuse89 and I would still need to set aside time every week to do the posting. Personally, I like to get it over in one long painful go rather than have to clear my schedule for several hours every week. But I'll discuss it with her and see what she thinks.

(Oh no! I did send it out...I'm not sure why you didn't receive it. Ugh, maybe the post office didn't bounce it back to me. Can I send you something again in recompense? I'm afraid I only have the trading card packs left though.)

I haven't given up entirely yet because I feel like if I signed up for my own challenge I ought to submit something. But I don't know if I'll actually have enough time. ::sighs::

There's that, too. It was an idea formed mostly out of the fact that the task of guessing *all* of the authors at once is incredibly daunting.

It's likely just gotten lost somewhere. I think I was in the process of moving at the time, and while I had all of my mail forwarded, things happen, right? Don't worry about it, though. Just, encourage the people who end up not making the deadline to still finish their fics and post them to [livejournal.com profile] kifu_archive? That's yourself included, though I'll hold out hope for you making it. ^_^

OMG I totally forgot about [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts! Ugh. I was thinking that I ought to look up the deadline for it--just realized that it's OVER. *flails*

I don't want to drop BG, but there's a time crunch here. On the other hand, it's more of a shortfic challenge this time round...

[livejournal.com profile] lacewood is usually pretty generous about giving extensions, so you might want to email her and ask?

I think the low word count minimum is the only reason why I even have the possibility of finishing. -_-;;

Yup, she is, but I don't think I have the time for it this month. Maybe the next round.
