Haste Street on the Feast of Ste. Sylvia

1. Listening to Julia Kent (two songs available for download at Aurgasm) makes me want to make an FST again. But for what?

2. Added the RSS feed of Peter Stothard, the editor of the Times Literary Supplement to Google Reader, where the latest post blogs about a book about blogs about books. In the resulting link-hopping, I found The Baker Street Blog, which lends new meaning to being a Sherlock Holmes fan. O_O

Also, podcasts for the TLS-hosted debate at the Cheltenham Literature festival on Greeks versus Romans. Haven't listened to them myself because I, uh, have no patience for podcasts (the reason why I never listen to podfics). I wish I could find a good transcription somewhere, but no such luck.

3. I hate revising application essays.

4. [livejournal.com profile] emblem started a support group for those of us foolhardy enough to be attending graduate school: [livejournal.com profile] postbachelors. (Because seventeen years of education were not enough!) Along similar lines, [livejournal.com profile] readerofasaph has created [livejournal.com profile] modus_scribendi for people interested in writing original fiction. If I'm not mistaken, membership in both communities is closed, so talk to the respective maintainer if you're interested in joining.

5. If you believe that all I do these days is go to lab, read books, read blogs about books (but thankfully not books about blogs) and watch dramas while procrastinating on my NSF application, you would be perfectly right. I did however spend Saturday at the De Young Museum with [livejournal.com profile] ladydaera, her boyfriend, and one of her classmates. The general conclusion from the outing: interpreting modern art is best done as a group effort. ^_^

...This LJ is getting more and more boring by the week. Will respond to comments on last post once I can manage to think intelligently again. In the meanwhile, any interesting memes or quizzes lately? Yes, I'm looking for any excuse not to revise my personal statement. Ugh.

Yours &c.

I need to go download that debate!

The architecture of the De Young Museum is awesome, is it not?!

Yes, it is! I liked the museum itself as well, although we didn't finish making it through all the galleries. I'll need to visit it again sometime. XD
