Durant Avenue on the Feast of St. John of Chrysostom

Enjoying my lazy day by going on a music downloading spree. ^_^ As evidence of my musical philistinism, I don't understand the supposedly self-evident brilliance of Brian Eno and David Byrne's "Strange Overtones" (free download from their album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, or Youtube video). I went back and listened to the other free download I have via betterPropaganda, "Regiment" (from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, Youtube video), but do not feel the same disconnect.

(Philistinism! I should add that to my Wordie lists.)

That meme:

There are 30 questions.
Answer each question with one name.
Next to each number, write only the name of the person who fits.
Don't tell the questions to anyone who isn't doing the meme.

01. [livejournal.com profile] sesame_seed first came to mind, at least in the online realm.
02. [livejournal.com profile] tryogeru, [livejournal.com profile] angelyrique, [livejournal.com profile] ldmoonflower, [livejournal.com profile] kaydeefalls (and others, but they don't use LiveJournal regularly).
03. Hm...no one permanently. Maybe [livejournal.com profile] zauberer_sirin or [livejournal.com profile] squidlet, out of sheer curiosity.
04. [livejournal.com profile] jaebi_lit or [livejournal.com profile] fable, maybe? Though not really; I just associate them with food ethics.
05. From personal experience, [livejournal.com profile] tokyofish, [livejournal.com profile] tsutanai and [livejournal.com profile] starlighter!
06. Steve...[livejournal.com profile] team7 when she was more active in fandom.
07. Er...maybe [livejournal.com profile] moderntime?
08. Not counting the answers to 02 or [livejournal.com profile] schwimmerin, probably [livejournal.com profile] lacewood.
09. Not counting the answers to 05, probably [livejournal.com profile] bravecows and [livejournal.com profile] sub_divided.
10. [livejournal.com profile] aiwritingfic. (Because she's the older sister type.)
11. Hm, no one really.
12. Hm, [livejournal.com profile] twelve or [livejournal.com profile] sangoire, perhaps? [livejournal.com profile] noble_scarlet?
13. Well, when it comes to my particular online circles, probably [livejournal.com profile] team7 and [livejournal.com profile] petronia? Though not actually in terms of their personalities.
14. [livejournal.com profile] rinslet? Though not in a conventional sense.
15. Er.
16. [livejournal.com profile] worldserpent (well, the tone of her blogging anyway).
17. [livejournal.com profile] uminohikari.
18. Er.
19. [livejournal.com profile] magicnoire. Also [livejournal.com profile] silvermuse89.
20. Drawing a blank.
21. [livejournal.com profile] jaebi_lit for lending me books.
22. Most consistently, [livejournal.com profile] tryogeru. Plus [livejournal.com profile] unrequitedangst is the master of sarcasm.
23. [livejournal.com profile] serendip.
24. [livejournal.com profile] cynic_in_charge? Well, she'd get others to do it for her, but the end result is the same.
25. Hm, I don't know.
26. Ha.
27. [livejournal.com profile] pyrefly.
28. Steve...hm, I don't know. Anyone who wants to?
29. [livejournal.com profile] murinae! ^_^
30. Your posts always make my day. ^_^

3) Italicize those you want to try.
4) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.

Like eel? I really want to try it then. ^_^

Well, I think you're the youngest on my friends list so it was the obvious choice. ^_^;;

Hee, yes, you just seem very organized and able to juggle a lot of things without letting them stress you out. ^_^

This meme is such a perfect exercise of how we never see ourselves the way other people see us.

Heh, yes. I got put down for 18 and felt mildly confused as to why. Though that particular one can be interpreted in so many different ways.

XD OMG SO TRUE but only when I know people better. First time I've gotten that one though. I keep getting put down for the first part of 14 and I was like "I'M NOT! ...Am I?"

Hee, well, it means that conversations with you are always delightful. ^_^ I think the other people I mentioned for 5 would make the same caveat.

Hm, I didn't think of associating you with 14. You do dress very stylishly, but that's different from [first part of 14].

What were the questions?

For 59, if you want to try poutine, Salt House in SoMa serves it. Looks revolting, though (I don't like mushy fries).

For 86, I'm making rabbit and dumpling stew sometime this winter. If rabbit is close enough to count, come over when I make it!

Will email them to you.

Ooh, thanks for the tip about where to get poutine. And yes, I'll come over for rabbit and dumpling soup; I've never had rabbit before. Where are you planning on getting the rabbit meat?

Golden Gate Meat Company in the Ferry Building. They're my favorite butcher - they're really nice, have lots of great meat (fresh, local, a variety of sustainable options), and yummy sausages. Not too expensive, either, and they wrap things fresh in paper (the other butcher at the FB, Prather Ranch, does a lot of plastic wrap). They're also really great about being able to get things if they don't have them in stock and about having things in general - I've gotten discarded chicken bits for making stock with very cheaply, and they've been able to get pig belly w/the skin on and beef shin on the bone for me. <3!

I am only listed as an exception? :( Granted, I haven't read the list of questions that closely.

Crocodile is pretty bland, but I AM GOING TO MAKE YOU SPÄTZLE AND CURRYWURST SOMETIME. It won't be that great, but it will be the most epic clash of German cuisine to be eaten in one meal ever XD

It's not so much an exception as the question uses "would" and for you, it's more of a "did". Uh. That makes no sense, but look at the list in 02, and you'll realize what I mean. I don't think the rest of the questions really apply to you; they're all remarkably uninteresting. I mean, if they had a "Who speaks multiple European languages?" question then that would be another matter.

Ooh, epic clash or not, it sounds delicious! XD

I tried steak tartare on toast last Thursday. It was actually delicious! It didn't even scare me to be eating it. Even if between the raw meat and the raw egg mixed in, it seems like salmonella waiting to happen. Maybe the onions kill the bacteria? Who knows? Anyway, it was good.

Now you make me wish we really had been able to go to school together. Or at least meet. Though I am much crankier in RL than I am on LJ, so you might come to regret it if we did... ^^;

But who knows, it might happen yet? Meeting, if not actual school. XD
