Durant Avenue on the Feast of St. Charles Borromeo

How I knew Obama had won the election:

As I was walking home, I heard swells of cheering from buildings on campus, and I was serenaded by celebratory honking as I crossed each and every intersection.

Okay, so I don't know how successful Obama will be as president. But let me just say, at least I won't dread waking up tomorrow. Finally, a Democrat in the Oval Office! Now as long as Prop. 8 doesn't pass, I'll be happy.

Yours &c.

Post-script: Arizona and Arkansas both passed their ballot measures opposing gay marriage or adoption by gay couples. California, please don't follow the herd! 25% of precincts reporting, and Proposition 8 is currently 53% for and 47% against. (At least the margin has closed in the last half-hour?)

Are you serious? California of all places?

My sentiments exactly. I keep telling friends and family that "Obama could potentially screw up just as badly as Bush, but we don't know that for a fact. Let's just wait and see what happens." Still, I am very pleased and content with Obama's victory for the time being.
