Ad Mundo Exteriore,

Conversation overheard among two eighth graders on the train today (I know they are eighth graders because they were complaining about Health class, and they were too small to be in tenth):

Boy A: No, no, no! It's the difference between "I feel you" and "I feel happy"!
Boy B: How about "I shoot you" and "You shoot yourself"?
Boy A: How about "I shoot you", "I strangle you", and "I dangle you from the ceiling and whip you to death"? I'll cut off your shins and eat them! I'll cut off your head and attach it to your feet!

Me: (silently to self) Yes, the admissions criterion is still potential for insanity.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the eighth grade. The other grades are normal, but the class of 2007 has a healthy percentage of kids who belong in the Hallway.

Falling swiftly into HikaGo obsession. Case in point: wasted all my pocket money on HikaGo manga vols. 2-4 and 20. In volume 20, there is a new Korean Go player whose name is Ko Yeong-ha. The name means "Eternal Summer", and the second character "ha" is actually part of my name as well. He plays Touya Kouyo, but I can't tell if he won or not.

Note: Tari does not know how to read Japanese. She just knows about 40 hanja (including the numbers) and two or three phonetic characters. Nevertheless, she still managed to follow the story in volume 20, including the intense battle between Hikaru and some new character, which was very weird for beginning with the 5-5 hand and the center star. Oh, and I think Akira and Hikaru were playing in the Honinbo tournament before that. Forgive me if I'm completely wrong.

Mother is yelling at me for taking so long online, even though I've only stayed on for forty-five minutes. Sheesh.

...Tari
