In which Tari visits the library
Feb. 19th, 2003 06:05 pmAd Mundo Exteriore,
Stopped by the Mid-Manhattan Library today, and went through the requisite security check. Except this time, the security guard was positively fanatic. He opened all the visible zippers on our bags and peered through them. He even took out someone's water bottle and sniffed its contents. I don't know what he was looking for...alcohol? Can alcohol be used to make a bomb? Probably, but still...it was so weird. He even looked through my pencil case. Yeah, a small Asian girl like me goes around hiding pocket bombs in her pencil case...right.
I read The Club of Queer Trades, which had a whole slew of funny quotes that I wanted to post here but couldn't because I finished the book at the library. I also took out Babel Tower (by Byatt) and a bunch of Chesterton novels, so guess what I'll be doing for the rest of the week? Yes, procrastination by reading. Yup. Babel Tower is really confusing, by the way, but interesting, especially with the tense shifts.
I need more Hikaru no Go.
No philosophical musings today. Just a moment of sheer pain as my poor zip-up boots were drenched with ice-cold water as I tried to wade through the remains of Monday's blizzard.

Date: 2003-02-21 05:05 pm (UTC)Actually, when was at the Met over Christmas break, the guard there also made me open my pencil case. My Pokemon pencil case. Humph, you'd think terrorists would have better taste than to put an explosive device in a Pikachu...then again..
Sniffing the water. Maybe he was rabid. My math teacher's rabid. He foams at the mouth when excited (I should know, I sit dead center in the first row). Creepy.
BTW, your scarf is almost ready, I just need a few more rows and some fringes. It'll be ready by monday. When do you want to meet so I could give it to you before it gets warm again?
BTW2, You Did give Lydia hers, right? Did she throw it aside as soon as you gave it to her and reached for the YM magazine? Did she even thank me indirectly? Has she mentioned it at all?
Sigh.
Bitter much?
>.<

(Or Saturdays for that matter, but I doubt that that's convenient.) Tell me when you're free and we'll work something out.
(BTW, my mother says your knitting is really excellent. She thinks you're better at it than she is.)
