Ad Mundo Exteriore,

OH MY GOSH! I have the LotR DVD! Right here! In my computer! I can't believe it! I literally cannot stop using exclamation marks, so apparently I do have a diseased mind! ::has to gulp for air to calm down::

WAH! And the DVD is so pretty! I love the way it looks! I haven't finished watching all the special features yet, but what I've seen is really awesome! I can't believe they hand-ground each sword! I want Legolas' knife/dagger/whatever it is! And that segment on elves! I can't believe they built such elaborate sets! Do you think that they'd be still intact? ::whiny tone of voice:: I want to live there...

I think if I could drop out of high school, I'd move to New Zealand. Oh, and Hobbiton! Hobbiton was so perfect! No wonder I loved the movie, the director was even more insanely obsessed with details than the rest of us.

I have the DVD! Yes, I'm repeating myself over and over, but this means I can watch it over and over and over and over without paying money! Oh...I really, really, really want the collector's edition. It has trading cards and action figures and lots of uncut footage and extra music! But it's $80 (or $60 if you order by Amazon) and impossibly out of reach. ::groans:: Oh why me? I want that edition!

Um...if you haven't realized by now, I'm in an unusually melodramatic, frenzied state of mind. I was dancing on my way home from the Wiz. I nearly had a heart attack when I couldn't find where they were selling the New Releases on DVD. I got it on sale for $20 so I'm happy anyway. ^_^ ::jumps up and down again like a bunny rabbit on crack::

WAH! It's so pretty! And I never got to see the Two Towers trailer, so the Two Towers preview was priceless! Can you believe the sets? Edoras looks exactly like I imagined. And the new actors--Eomer and Faramir look sort of weird, but Eowyn actually managed to look like Eowyn. I mean, Lyd-chan told me she wasn't a very pretty actress and she isn't, but she still managed to look like Eowyn. Isn't that weird?

I want pointy ears! And I do not want to see any more pictures of Arwen in revealing bright red dresses. Ew. ::winces and goes back to staring lovingly at the cover of the DVD case::

*grins*

my mother read the first paragraph of your post, over my shoulder, and now she is laughing at both of us. I had EXACTLY the same response, right down to the bit about "WAAHHHH! the details! the details!" Except that I was more impressed by the hand-blown glasses in Bree than by the swords. Because, like, swords are really important and Tolkien spends a lot of time describing them, so you'd figure that a responsible filmmaker would make an effort with them. But... the glassware? In Bree? Who's going to notice that? (Well, me, next time I watch the DVD, and the rest of the fandom, but whatever.) That was devoted. Although the swords were cool too.

and my response was more hobbit-centric. FRODOFRODOSAMMERRYPIPPIN. SQUEEEEEE. something like that.

oh, and re the actresses: I actually don't mind Liv; she's cool in real life, and okay in the movie. Also--I said that Mirando Otto was ugly? I probably did; I don't remember, but actually lately I've been thinking she's quite pretty. And she does sort of channel Eowyn well, personality-wise, although I picture Eowyn being taller and less buxom and with more aquiline features.

Wasn't the way they made Rivendell just awesome? And yeah, I was going to say something about the glassware and the pottery but it slipped my mind. Oh, and can you believe they handlinked all that chainmail? I wish they'll sell all that extra armor on Ebay...maybe they WILL sell all the props and armor and stuff...

::wants Legolas' knife/dagger/whatever, and no, not in a perverted way, you people::
