Ad Mundo Exteriore,

From "The Queer Feet":

" 'Yes,' he said; 'it must be very hard work to be a gentleman; but, do you know, I have sometimes thought that it may be almost as laborious to be a waiter.' "

LiveJournal is such a corruptive force! My response paper on Eliot's essay sounds more like one of my long LJ entries (you know the kind of which I speak, the ones that go on for pages and pages and pages) than a response paper. Hope the teacher won't mind? Dr. Miller has a sense of humor, though she is not half as wicked as Ms. Airoldi. (Who is quite marvelously evil indeed. LD and I consider her a role model. ^_^)

You know, I really am a hypocrite. Look at the paragraph above and cringe at the stylistic inconsistency. Also, I slip into faulty grammar when I think too quickly (e.g. the last post).

By the way, Hotta Yumi wasn't joking around when she said that Korea's strong at Go. (On second thought, Japanese admitting that Koreans are good at anything is occurs once in a blue moon.) Japan's top player, who is like the real-life equivalent of Touya Meijin, is Cho Chikun, who is Korean by birth. He was Meijin, Honinbo, Gosei, Tengen, 10 Dan...O_O...the first person to have held all seven titles in his lifetime. And according to many people, the top pro player in the world currently is Yi Changho, who has been declared a "national treasure". This is very scary. I had no clue that Koreans took baduk so seriously. I feel like I'm committing a crime, not being able to play. Of course, Mother doesn't know how to play either. (Actually, few women in Korea know how to play. In the dramas, the men gather together for a game of baduk, while the women go to the kitchen to prepare dinner. -_-)

Random note: did you know that there is a Japanese pro player known as "Lord Sakai of Ishimi"? O_O Yes, I have been looking at a database. So what?

Oh, and I've just realized what Jyudan meant. Since I've only read the scanslated version of the manga, I tend to read the numbers in Korean, like kudang instead of kyudan and shipdang instead of jyudan. So when I saw it mentioned in the anime, I was thinking, "Huh? What's that?" And I just realized it now. Don't laugh! I can be awfully slow about these things. (And I keep thinking, Touya Akira, samdang instead of sandan. ::hits head::) There's also the problem of not knowing all the Japanese numbers. Hm...maybe I should force myself to learn Japanese with oniichan. (Though Mother will throw a fit.) Or even better, make Tryogeru teach me the numbers.

I'm facing a terrible dilemma. Should I go download episodes 160+ even though I've only read up to 148? I don't want to abandon Toriyama World...but I want to know what happens next! And there are supposed to be even more Akira/Hikaru moments...argh. I give in. Will go and download the Jump scanslations now and the manga scanslations later when they're released on Toriyama World.

By the way, I want to see the Lord of the Rings again. But I have two tests, an essay, and a whole bunch of who-knows-what coming up next week. Why me? I want to fall into senior slump but I can't.

Um...yeah...that's kind of specific, depending on which counter you use (people, brids, small animals, large animals, automachines, flat objects, round objects, spherical objects, numbers (as in number one in skiing, number twelve in mathematics) so I didn't really include too many of them. I did include some of them, such as ro- and ha- but...
Yeah..
