Ad Mundo Exteriore,

I was reading stories by a friend of mine up at FictionPress, and though she told me she writes badly, it's not at all the case. She has a real gift for description, although her writing still needs to develop in other areas. (That sounds condescending, but it isn't meant to be. After all, mine does too.) But she actually is a very good writer, and it's nice that we're talking about stories again, since we first became friends in a writing class way back in fifth grade. (Urgh...seven years ago. O_O That was even before HPTF.) In any case, the last story I read was one of her best, and I submitted a review in keeping with my new resolution to give feedback.

Then...I read the other reviews of her stories. Oh my gosh, there are people who are so illiterate and...and...well, I have to say it, stupid in this world. I mean, they left nice reviews, but the content was so shallow and misspelled! Argh! If they're going to try to sound intelligent and point out the good points of the story, do they have to sound so idiotic and say, "Oh, your sentences flow together so nicely!" (Except misspelled and with more exclamation points. And sillier-sounding. >_<) Well, sentences should flow, shouldn't they? What else are they supposed to do? Jog in place? If sentences didn't "flow", it wouldn't be online in the first place! Oh wait, let me take that back. I forgot that I avoid all FF.net fics that have ungrammatical summaries.

Anyway, my friend writes well at least, which restores my faith in humanity, and she should keep writing. Unfortunately, she doesn't read my LJ, so I have to tell her that in person, next time I see her.

...Tari
