In which Tari procrastinates for a while
Oct. 13th, 2003 01:38 pmAd Mundo Exteriore,
Finally! Finally! What on earth took ANBU & AonE so long to release Naruto 52 and 53? I mean, Saiyaman released them ages ago!
Anyway, I hope my loyalty pays off. -_- These episodes better be perfect. If I catch a single grammar mistake, I'm going to throw a fit.
In other news, Vergil is such a Homer wannabe. From the long lists of combatants to the graphic descriptions of gore in battle...even the obligatory tragic gay romance. Nisus and Euryalus are such an obvious imitation of Akhilleus and Patroklos. ^_^ Except Nisus is not as superior a warrior as Akhilleus (of course). And Euryalus is both younger and prettier. I wonder if anyone's written Aeneid slash yet. Not sure if I want to know the answer to that though. Can't possibly imagine uke!Euryalus, especially not after his total battle frenzy in Book IX. >_<
So behind on work...as usual...-_- Where did my motivation go? Oh well, at least the Aeneid is fun to read.
I also watched Warrior Queen on Masterpiece Theater yesterday. Yay, I finally got around to seeing a PBS program. Badly written and badly acted, and the film editing was so obvious that I could tell when they used blue screen. Nevertheless, you've got to be delighted by all the little historical touches they put in, like the way the Iceni warriors stiffened their hair into blond spikes with lime. Or the way that Claudius stuttered. ^_^
On the other hand, I don't think Claudius ever went to Britain, did he? And the whole brutal and sadistic Roman governor act was...overdone. The rape scene was not necessary, even if it was plausible. And the Roman buildings looked as if they were made of plaster and synthetic tiles. Hm...should go read Suetonius' biography of Nero to see if he really did have an incestuous relationship with Agrippina. (I wouldn't be surprised if he did. It runs in the family after all.) -_-
