For you writers on my friends list (which is just about everybody, I think), from Horace, Ode I.1, as translated by J. Clancy:
"As for me, the prize for poets, the crown
of ivy, makes me one with the gods; in shady
woods, among the light-stepping nymphs and satyrs,
I am far from the crowd, while Euterpe allows me
her flute, and Polyhymnia does not refuse
to tune for me the lyre of Lesbos.
And should you rank my songs with the masters',
I shall walk tall, my head will touch stars."
Well, I'm no Maecenas, but I do rank your "songs with the masters'", whatever my opinion may be worth. ^_^
I've been in such a classics mood, haven't I? Maybe I'll subject you all to genetics next time. (Multivariable calculus, unfortunately, has not progressed to a point where it's interesting enough to occupy my mind past the requisite problem sets and worksheets. And Korean would be fun but incomprehensible to all but oniichan.)
Darn it, my sabalmyun isn't cooking properly. I thought the water was hot enough, but apparently not.
