Ad Mundo Exteriore,
I am feeling a tad bit miffed that no one's reviewed my fanfiction at FF.net. All right, so I did get one review on Human, which was along the lines of "a different take on GW, but a really great fic." Which doesn't help. ::casts glare at Lyd-chan:: You would think that if I spend so much time and effort on constructive criticism for my friends' efforts at writing, they would be willing to invest the same amount of time in helping me polish up my own. ::sniffs:: I need criticism, not just, "oh, wonderful fic; I really loved it" kind of comments. I shouldn't be too surprised about the lack of reaction at FF.net, though. I don't venture into the several thousand fics section of the Gundam Wing/AC category myself (861 pages! AGH!). Everyone posts up his or her fics and never reads anyone else's.
Anyway, part 9 of Returning is coming along very nicely, but it's turning into a giant of a chapter. Which is bad. Very bad. I mean, I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to consistency of chapter lengths, but this particular part may be three pages longer than the longest parts so far written. I can't think of a chapter title either. Funny, I have this scene all planned out in my head, and it plays out beautifully, but I can't attach a title to it. Oh, and I'm watching GW over again to figure out when's the next time Zechs meets Heero. No actual displays of affection until the epilogue, but I want the next part to be...um...full of tension? That is such a bad cliche. But anyway, part 10's going to be difficult to write.
(1) Finish Returning.
(2) Write out the AU plot bunny, which I have right now pretentiously entitled Midsummer's Story: the equivalent of a 6+1 summer fling, in a crossover between Celtic/post-Roman Britain worlds. In other words, the vague general fantasy universe that comes out of reading too much Mary Stewart and Rosemary Sutcliff. And technically, Marion Zimmer Bradley, but I don't like her. Zechs obsesses over Heero, who is the young warrior prince of a rival tribe, taken as a hostage. Unhappy ending in mind.
(3) Write out the other AU plot bunny, which is even more frightening: somewhere halfway between fusion and crossover with Pride and Prejudice. It sounds better in my head than it does on paper or screen. Heero as the sensible son of a country gentleman, (no entails and cousin Colins), with the unfortunate fate of having been born the only brother to four sisters. Zechs as the aristocratic "Mr. Darcy" figure, who is visiting the country with whoever's going to play Mr. Bingley, and looks down his nose at all the uncultured country gentry. But despite his original prejudice against those country boors, he finds that Heero's a nice boy after all, and then they fall in sweet sappy love and commit acts of debauchery worthy of Oscar Wilde himself. So it's hardly plausible. I don't care. If I write it as a parody, it'll be pretty hilarious.
Oh, by the way, I finished Shadow Puppets at B&N yesterday. Don't click on the link below if you don't want to read spoilers.
Oh my gosh, Bean and Petra are married! So weird! Petra's pregnant! O_O Can't believe my eyes...
Slightly relieved that Achilles is finally dead (the psychopathic jerk) and really interested to see the members of Ender's jeesh in greater depth. Hot Soup, Alai and Ambul all get pretty significant roles, and I find myself really liking these characters. Alai, especially, very charismatic and very reminiscent of the boy who was Ender's best friend. Hot Soup is hilarious with his sarcasm and irony. You've got to love the Chinese.
Peter on the other hand is humbler and more stupid than ever. ::head in hand:: Of course, he's a nicer person now, so that makes up for it, I suppose. A real inferiority complex though. Poor onii-chan.
And of course, I love the way Ender is remembered. ^_^
That's it for now. Adios...

Date: 2002-08-26 01:14 pm (UTC)Y'know, there's something vaguely unpleasant about having a nice read on your computer to suddenly discover you've gotten hitched and knocked up. All in one line, too. ::sighs:: Now I have to read the book. Well, I had to already, but now I really have to.
