Ad Mundo Exteriore,

Something that cheers me up already--

Richard Dawkins is delivering a series of lectures here! The first one was today, actually. The next one is tomorrow, at 5. Unfortunately, the third one is a panel but it's going to be in the KSG at 10 in the morning, which is not such great timing.

He's going to be speaking on religion and science. I disagree with the Great Atheist on almost all of his opinions on the subject (what few I know of, that is) but how can I miss the chance to see the man who came up with the selfish gene theory?

I still feel awful, but slightly less awful now.

poor tari! things do admittedly kind of suck here right now, but it'll get better (in less than a week!) soon. platitudes aside, it IS hard to survive this kind of battering after the freedom of second-semester seniordom and the long summer. it's much too easy to burn out here, in an environment where we have to learn to take care of ourselves academically and in every other way, all at once. come over some time and cheer up! all of us chem ppl have gotten so used to being miserable that it's really quite a happy place - manic, in fact :).

Sure thing.

Oh yeah, about the Bureau of Study Counsel, how is the time commitment for that? I'm considering signing up for a workshop too, at least for personal reassurance purposes...

I'm happy to see you less unhappy...

but I don't like the fact that you were unhappy to begin with.

Hang in there, chica - you're one of the smartest people I know [I say this and mean every dang pixel of it]. Both you and I know that you can go through hell and back. You said it yourself - it's just burnout. Kind of like Bean [grar, you have me reading Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, and Speaker for the Dead rabidly... >_<], brilliant but human and in need of time to recuperate.

Sorry if that wasn't helpful...

<3,
Danica

Aw, thanks Danica. You're always helpful...And I'm flattered by the Bean comparison, considering how unlike a genius I feel right now. LOL.

Yes, I have nothing big for the next two weeks, so I'll hopefully recuperate completely in time for Thanksgiving. ^_^
