Ad Mundo Exteriore,

The interview meme, which I've decided to try out after all, several months after it was the craze on my friends list.

1. Leave a comment telling me if you want to be interviewed.
2. I'll answer with five questions, and you answer them on your journal.
3. If you want to interview me, too, then leave your five questions in a comment.

1 - You're a college kid at Harvard, so I have to ask: Haaahhhvard? Or Harvard? And have you met [Bad username in LJ tag]? Basically, what's your impression of the campus?

Unfortunately, couldn't read the "bad username". >_< Anyway, it's "Hahvahd" to Bostonites, my friend Jacob, [livejournal.com profile] aetherangelette and the occasional student who wants to imitate the Boston accent. There's a pretty cool T-shirt that says "HAHVAHD". The rest of us just go around saying "Harvard". ^_^ I have to admit my first impression of the campus was pretty disappointing--I expected it be more of an "academic bubble"--but now, I rather like the fact that it has a college town feel. And while it is pretty suburban, some areas around Harvard Square remind me of Greenwich Village (especially the performance pit). I'm a little surprised now to find how much I like walking through the Yard, which is at the heart of the undergraduate campus. The buildings are nearly all brick, but there's a very cosy feel to it, and the wide greens in front of Widener library are absolutely gorgeous during the fall.

2 - Fellow New Yorker! Are you an Upstater or Cityite? In other words, what part?

I'm a cityite, I'm afraid. ^_^ Actually, I live in Queens and went to high school in Manhattan.

3 - Now the fun stuff. Hikaru no Go - Should Hikaru beat Akira? Why or why not?

I think he should. Simply because he can't be a true "eternal rival" to Akira if he never beats him in an official match. Also, I tend to interpret their playing styles very specifically--this is all in my head, and only loosely connected to canon. I think Akira is intimidating and aggressive--they compared him to Ilhwan in those terms, I believe--but since he's been playing go all his life, I think he's not as creative as Shindou. I don't see him as one to take risks, but rather play very solidly and flawlessly throughout the game. Shindou on the other hand I see as being much more innovative--while his game is rooted in the classical Shuusaku style he learned from Sai, I think that Sai also taught him a willingness to risk everything on a single move. We keep hearing about the startling moves that Shindou makes that turn out to be unexpected strengths, and also his flexibility in adapting to Yashiro's unconventional moves convinces me that he's more daring. I think they complement each other well because of that: Akira has the solid foundations, Shindou has the sheer originality. Once Shindou learns to be less erratic in his playing, I can definitely see him beating Akira.

4 - I give you one bishounen, covered in chocolate syrup. Who is it, and do you take a taste? ^_~

Oh...difficult choice. Hm...I'd want Sai. I don't know if I'd taste him--yes, I know, how boring--because I don't really like chocolate syrup, but I'll definitely be generous enough to share him among all my friends. Actually...I don't know if the syrup would stay on Sai, since he's a ghost, but it'll be interesting. And he could teach me go while getting glomped by all my fellow fangirls.

5 - Here's my standard end question to all interviews (works great while reporting). What else do you think I should know?

Actually, I got this question for my expository writing questionnaire. ^_^ Hm, let's see...I've lived in apartments all my life, and my dream, ever since I was little, has been to one day own a house. Over the years, the house has been designed and furnished in my mind, like the way that Anne from Anne of Green Gables planned out her House of Dreams. Right now, it consists of a huge central room, containing bookshelves going up to the ceiling, with several sliding stepladders, little niches containing couches, huge plush armchairs, a fireplace, a globe, a central table with several computers, and a sofabed so I can go to sleep there. ^_^ The other rooms are small and unimportant. I also want a rock garden and bonsai trees. Anyway, as a result, I spend way too much time watching those house-building and gardening shows on PBS during summer vacations.
