Running the gauntlet

First Ordeal: second chemistry hourly
Got up at five this morning to work on expos essay, then went to breakfast early and managed to get to lecture hall fifteen minutes before the exam began. Chemistry hourlies by the way are actually an hour and a half and begin an extra half-hour early. I realized on the first question that far more of the material had sunk into my brain (probably by sheer osmotic pressure after all those review sessions and studying) and that I might even have a grasp on this material. I realized on the third question that no matter how much I may have improved in chemistry, the exam was too long and I wasn't progressing at a pace fast enough to finish it in time. Panic ensued, then I resigned myself to leaving my exam mostly unfinished and just concentrated on the problems I knew how to do. Managed to complete slightly less than two-thirds. >_<
Second Ordeal: Korean lesson quiz
Did not study one whit for this exam, yet it was all so ridiculously easy. I'm glad I didn't bother studying because that would have been wasted time.
Third Ordeal: second expos essay, final draft
I actually had a very strong draft, and I was convinced that I could write a really wonderful final essay for once. But I did not anticipate the major writer's block I had while I twiddled around with sentences for two hours. Missed math section in order to maximize time, but ended up frantically writing all the actual substantial revisions in the last hour or so before the next Ordeal. Unfortunately, the essay ended up looking more like one and a half drafts pasted hastily together. I'm so disappointed...I thought I'd be proud of this one.
Fourth Ordeal: Korean oral exam
Ended up having conversation with teacher about my school life instead of practicing the unit material. I got to complain about chemistry and expos. Used a little too much English because I was still stuck in expos mode, but I think the teacher was impressed that I managed to speak about Jane Austen and Northanger Abbey with my limited Korean vocabulary.
Fifth Ordeal: fourth CGR interview
Although I showed up fifteen minutes late, the postdoc who was interviewing me was very nice, much nicer than the CGR Fellow who is in charge of the lab. (She interviewed me last week and made me feel like a bug.) He explained everything slowly with sufficient detail and then proceeded to show me cool movies of yeast cells tagged with GFP. He's pretty nice. He asked if I was Korean and told me that he once visited Seoul while he was in Japan, which was also when he met his now current wife (who, amazingly enough, is Japanese). He likes kimchi, which is a sign of refined and proper taste.
Sixth Ordeal: kendo practice
After rushing back from my preceptor's office (which is all the way at the Extension School--ugh, the actual Expository Writing office is next door, which is the only advantageous aspect of Greenough's location, and I don't even benefit from it), I put on my contacts and dragged myself to the MAC...to find that practice was canceled because the mezzanine was being used by some kickboxing class. Heh. Hung out with Kofi, Izzy and Yifon for a while, recovering from the former Ordeals and listening to them chat about (what else?) kendo. Our official coach, Ueda-sensei, is coming the week after Spring Break to train us for the Shoryuhai tournament, so I got to hear a couple of anecdotes about how scary and quirky the Japanese sensei are.
Not too bad. Four of the expected Ordeals fizzled out and were not as bad as I expected. On the other hand, the chemistry midterm was enough of an Ordeal to make up for them. >_< I feel drained, but since I didn't actually have practice today, I not only have a full stomach for once, but I also have an extra few hours to just relax. ::sighs in relief::
I'm so sleep-deprived, it's not even funny. Now all I have to do is shower, clean my room, pack, make a wallpaper and go to sleep. I may even give up on the wallpaper bit and just go to sleep. (Sorry, oniichan...I'll get it done by Sunday though, I promise. >_<)
...Tari
Post-script: My brain is not functioning. I've edited this entry at least three times in the past five minutes for clarity, grammar and spelling.
Post-post-script: I forgot to post my quiz results.
Don't know who I got this from, but:
Isn't it depressing? Look at "chemistry", number 35. >_< Just tells you how pathetic my life is.
I think
tryogeru and I must have switched personalities while the MemeGen was operating. The sickeningly sweet schoolgirl bit doesn't fit, but everything else does. Somehow, I suddenly feel inspired to work on that Falsificatio K-drama now...

You're an INDIFFERENT AIM-ER. Meh.
What kind of AIM-er are you?

So true. Although I've been escaping to AIM more often lately out of sheer need to talk to someone who will listen to my incessant complaining (or rather not listen and just put up with it).

You are Andrew Ender Wiggin.

Hahaha...of course I cheated. >_>
