Whoa, I've never actually witnessed a wank unfold in front of my eyes before. It's even made it into fandom_wank. Meta-fandom indeed. Have officially satisfied my nosy, gossiping side for the week.
All right, I'm a terrible person. On the one hand, I feel sorry for the offended parties, but...all the tantrums and drama were terribly amusing. Besides, it was really polite and contained for the most part.

Anyway, despite my griping, there are quite a few commendable newbie writers around too. For example, one such person--who wasn't in fact involved in the wank--really took the general commentary on characterization to heart and is now determined to improve her writing. That's awfully sweet and earnest of her, isn't it? It restores my faith in the essential goodness of the human race. ^_^
