Ad Mundo Exteriore,

::bursting into a fit of laughter:: Wow, I can't believe we pulled it off! This definitely deserves to be commemorated in my LJ!

So, Kofi, our captain, has been joking about how he would love to see Jenny and me drunk one day (us being the typical straitlaced Asian girls), and we decided yesterday (when we were complaining about our current lack of motivation to come to Saturday practice) that it would be a perfect opportunity to turn the tables on him and send this email:

Dear Kofi,

So... Hana and I decided to get drunk last night, and in our inebriated state were unable to sensibly ration our ethanol intake. *blink* Anyway, the point is that we're way too headachy and hung over to come to practice, so you shall all have to do without our lovely presence today.
Cheers!

Jenny

Now we didn't really expect the senpaitachi to believe us because...well, it's not really believable, is it? (Especially if you consider that the tone of that email is completely too lighthearted for someone with their first hangover.) But apparently they're more gullible than we thought because Kofi promptly responded with:

I can't fucking believe it. And how did you two get drunk and not have any of us there to actually witness this?

(Then proceeded to forward the email to the EC list, cancel practice on grounds of too many people saying they couldn't come, and send us a rather touching email telling us to be careful when we drink. >_<)

Oh, and the junior captain, Izzy, apparently has this as her away message:

the sun is shining, there's no kendo practice, and my blockmates and i got drunk and belted out "goodbye yellow brick road" in front of ALL OF CURRIER last night.
at least i know i share my mild hangover with some kendo frosh.
<3<3 kendo frosh!
: )

I almost wanted to let the joke go on for a while, just to see when they'd start getting suspicious, but Jenny pointed out that we probably should tell them the truth quickly because then they'd expect us to drink at the final party. >_>

Anyway, what we actually did last night was eat candy, watch Pirates of the Caribbean and then listen to one of our blockmates talk about sex. Well, mostly sex. Oh, and we had an interesting discussion on fanfiction too. I got back at 1:20 and uploaded my Worldend Fairytale FST (FST stands for fan soundtrack). It can be found here, if you want to download. A mix of folk, classical, K-pop, J-pop and rock music, plus this trance(?) song that I downloaded off of [livejournal.com profile] solidark. It flows pretty nicely, I think; I've been listening to it myself.

I'll have the drabbles done sometime by the end of the weekend, I think. I've started working on some of them, but I didn't expect certain people (ahem, oniichan) to ask me for certain series, and now I have to go look back at the original manhwa to think about what I'd want to write.

Oh, and on Thursday, instead of preparing for my Korean presentation, I watched Hero, the Zhang Yimou film about the Qin emperor. It was quite possibly the most gorgeous action film I've ever seen. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon completely pales in comparison to the absolute perfection of this movie. What I noticed particularly was that the martial art choreography used the same kind of flying leaps and other such stunts that CTHD made popular but it seemed so much more realistic. These days, you feel that you could pretty much draw the piano strings and harnesses that the actors are hanging from, but in Hero, I think the director took special care to make the movement just flow much more naturally. I could really believe that these people could propel themselves through the air. The movie also has a calm, meditative quality that makes every movement seem symbolic. Typical of Zhang Yimou: his films are so understated and subtle, and Hero was no exception. The dialogue is merely the surface layer beneath which the true substance of the plot unfolds. It's definitely going on my favorite movie list. Thanks so much for letting me borrow it, [livejournal.com profile] tryogeru!

(By the way, my parents came today, and they really want to borrow it. Since I'm probably not going to see you again in Cambridge anyway, can I let them have it and I'll return it to you when both of us are in New York again? I know my mother's been wanting to see it ever since she read the New York Times review, and Father also loves action movies...)

All right, have to do homework and take care of some kendo financial business. Also, my parents are here with guests (an old couple from my church wanted to use their visit as an opportunity to visit Boston for the first time; in fact they're off sightseeing right now), so I actually have a reason for wanting to seem like an industrious, hard-working student.

Hm... yeah, it *is* a kind of Trance but there are as many types of Trance music as there are of Rock or Techno so it's hard to say ^^.

So the fst project has finally started? I wish I had the space and traffic to take part *le sigh*.

Well, the space is a bit of a problem (and I really hope I haven't exceeded our server limits), but it was really fun compiling the soundtrack. (Although it took a long time too...)

I never knew that "trance" was a genre before (forgive me, I'm musically ignorant, esp. for anything past 1920 or so). But I definitely liked the song, and it was perfect for the soundtrack. ^_^ I have no interesting music on my computer and most of my CDs are still at home so this was a bit of a challenge.

Whoa, you didn't read behind the LJ-CUT did you?

I wouldn't expect you to let that particular anecdote go by without a comment.

But yeah, Shinji drabble will be written, fear not. And yeah, I need to watch Hero again, preferably with you, so we can squeal at the oh-so-cool action scenes together. (Wasn't the guy who played Broken Sword really good-looking? Jet Li was awesome too, but that goes without saying.)

I did read behind the cut!
I just expected such evil and craftiness and Kofi-teasing from you.
But unlike you, I actually did spend some time on Sunday drinking.

Well, to be honest, it was Jenny's idea. >_> As much as I'd love to take credit for it.
